I'm a 54 yr old female and I've had asthma since birth. Now for the past I don't know how many years, I've been on ProAir HFA, Flovent, Foradil, and spiriva. It worked great. But foradil went bye-bye. So I just went to a new lung dr. and now things are not good! I tried Breo with a LOT of breathing difficulty problems, switched to Symbicort, used it today, in fact. Last time. It was worse than Breo. Back on Flovent for now, plus rescue inhaler. Any thought of other inhalers? Or just commiseration...

Hello
Hi Lori62, I am a 57 year old female who has had severe allergies and asthma since childhood. I have been on so many inhalers, nose sprays, and still struggle. Here is a list of my current medications: Xolair, Singulair, Symbicort, Pro-Air, Spiriva, and Albuterol with a Nebulizer. The Symbicort helps some, but I have not found any drug yet that has stopped my wheezing, except Corticosteroids. I could not do Allergy shots, either, because they just made my asthma worse. Although, I haven't been on Xolair, but about 3 months, so not sure it is working yet, nor have given it enough time. I hate the side effects of the steroids, because of the lack of sleep on it and the weight gain. However, I am doing the best I can, but sadly I really don't feel many asthma meds work well enough for severe asthmatics, except using some steroids!
there are i believe 2 other combination inhalers that you might ask your Dr. about to replace the Flovent/ Foradil. Advair and Dulera
