Has anybody found CBT useful in treating anxiety? The reason for me asking is because it doesn’t seem to work for me... I’ve had it in the past and if anything it seemed to make me worse.
I would love to be able to try and break down the cycle of my anxiety. I seem to do well with it for a couple of months and then all of a sudden, out of nowhere and with no trigger it seems to come back.
Thanks in advance for any replies

I have found CBT helpful, yes. Although, like you, there have been some triggers that no amount of CBT has managed to help. I’ve been having therapy now for almost a year and was starting to feel better but have taken a dip again now.
I think this is a common thing - progress isn’t linear, sometimes we feel better, sometimes worse and occasionally it’s for ‘random’ reasons or no reason that we can identify.
There are other types of therapy, aside from CBT, if you can find a good therapist perhaps you could explore the different options? Or talk to your doctor about the choices you have?
CBT can be helpful but isn’t for everyone. My therapist said to me once about how the relationship with your therapist is the most important part of therapy. Regardless of what therapeutic approach you are following, it is the therapeutic relationship which makes the most difference. I do think I agree with her.
