Hi all, I have had health anxiety for 11+ years and I’m cit for 9. For the most part it has helped, especially for the first 4-5 years, but more recently I can’t help but think it can’t be doing anything for me anymore, and not doing me good. Having recently read an article regarding the SSRIs being dangerous if you have a heart issue - I have occasional extra beats and used to have murmur...TAKING the med is actually making me feel more anxious and playing on my mind every time I swallow a pill.... so I’ve decided to come off. Or try too REALLY slowly. I’m on 20, I’ve ordered some 10s so I can drop to 15.... any advice welcome as I am scared. I’m scared to stop but scared to carry on!!!!! I also have underactive thyroid, and I am Always conscious of my heart beat and just general feeling.... can I do this ?? Plz tell me how you did

Hi he best way to come off it is under the control of a doctor, so I advise you to see yours. As these meds no longer seem to be working for you a change might be a good idea. x

Thank you :) yeah she has said I can do it but I mean, it’s so hard to get appointments and I don’t necessarily feel like she is supportive :/ she’s suggested dropping 5ml and maintain for a while, but I feel like 5ml is maybe too much a once but the smaller amounts only come in liquid form which she didn’t seem keen to prescribe 😫 x

Been on 20 mg for 18 months but this is reviewed every few months. I haven't been advised of harmful side effects and a need to come off it. Th need for it was quite specific and very disturbing for me because it was due to a separate serious clinical negligence event and the way it was heinously dismissed by ignorant and abusive Health Services Ombudsman (PHSO); but I'm not over it yet so will carry on if allowed. Concerned about the heart effects you mention - if related?
