Hi I'm new to this group and I suffer from claustrophobia and anxiety, I know I'm not alone but I avoid slot of things that trigger my anxiety ex: elevators, parking ramps, big malls idk where the exits are, airplanes, just to name a few when I was about 10 I was locked in a fold up bed in a camper not sure why it is. Coming out as an adult but I remember thinking I was going to die!!! Also few other things i have noticed is i was in a really bad storm on freeway hail i couldnt see to drive forward or anything now anytime it rains , suppose to rain, or anything I freak out get hot sweaty like I wanna get out of car and just run idk what i think it's going to happen??? Certain traffic I panick this is just so hard I honestly feel like I'm going crazy it's so frustrating I started seeing a counselor and have only been able to go to her 1 time until she retired she did emdr training I think it was called, now I have an appt with another person , I just wish I knew what triggers this stuck doesn't make sense, gotten so much worse since I have had kids, I take a daily medication . Idk if anyone has any advice please speak out thanks so much in advance, thanks for listening

Hello,
I agree with what was said earlier. Maybe talk with a counselor about more coping methods/techniques? Maybe the anxiety is health related? Has the medication you taken helped? Keep us updated<3
Hi Onni1980, I’m sorry you are suffering. So many things that trouble you are everyday things and some you can probably avoid, but some you can’t. Do you try to plan and intentionally avoid some of them? I know I get pretty anxious using our freeways so I find alternate routes. I also live in an area where heavy rains are common so I either don’t go out or just wait out the rain. Is that possible for you? I agree with the other posts so far that going to a counselor is a really great idea. Do family members know you suffer from this? Does it help you to have someone with you when you get into elevators, parking ramps and big malls? Finally, is the medication helping a little or a lot? If it isn’t maybe getting a stronger dose or taking it at a different time. I hope you get some relief, blessings.
Hi I hope your appointment with your new counsellor went well and that you feel comfortable talking to them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. How old are your kids?
I get frustrated in busy areas too. I feel paralysed like I can't think or move. I have found that breathing and counting to 10 help me calm down so that I can think of a logical way out/solution, rather than just pushing though a bunch of people or standing still and being pushed around. What do you do when you are stuck in these situations? Have you thought of your own coping technique.
Here to talk xx
