Panic attack I'm fed up

Had yet another panic attack my heart rate went to 146, and felt like I was going to freak out and pass out I rushed back to my car and rushed home.

Symptoms were tight ish chest, fast heart rate, dry mouth, breathless only a little like I was running but wasn't, light headed, felt fainty, jelly legs, it was so scary.

I'm really not coping with these at all. Any ideas how to stop a panic attack I have tried the breathing and can't seem to grasp it when in panic mode.

So sorry you feel this way terrible to suffer like we do. Very scarey i have to lie down and have a rest and i find that water helps me as well. Try and distract yourself and concentrate on something else. Our anxiety feeds of our panic attacks and makes them worse. Hope you are feelinv better soon.

Thank you Dorsey,

It is horrible it's stopping me from doing things now. I've found it's affecting my mood and I'm trying so hard for it not to.

I've bought some cbd oil today I hope it helps.

I've just been on the phone to talking changes and they have just talked me down from the panic attack.

And they used the distraction method I've never used that before.

How are you? Any better?

I use the oil too had it gor about 6 weeks i find it helps but still doesn't get rid of all my symptoms. Sometimes when i feel really bad i have to tell myself get over it and i just go and have a hot shower and then i feel better. I have terrible days but bette r once i stop focusing on these horrible symptoms.😎

That's all I want to do is stop focusing on panic and symptoms,

I'm going to give the oil a go I think.

Well it's spray love cbd it's called 300mg and cbda.

Not sure what the cbda is.

I've booked myself onto a course with others on the 16th Oct.

I'm really stressed at the moment too which doesn't help.

There's a site called centre for clinical interventions they have lots of resources to use.

I remember when I had panic attacks all the time. It was a very scary time. I really feel for you. I used to have a song or something in my head that I would start to hum or just If you feel it coming on have something to distract yourself with. I always would remove my self from the situation as you did straight away and try and calm down somewhere you feel comfortable. Practicing mindfulness throughout the day all day when you feel you are able to do it can help too. I remember I had them so often for a very long time and life was so difficult. In your other reply to me you said you spoke to someone on the phone which sounds a good idea and I hope it helped. They will come to an end in the end even through you won’t feel like it now. I hope you have a better day today x

Thank you ellie34,

It was horrible I was half thinking hospital it is again but spoke to the guy on the phone and it stopped but as soon as I spoke about work panic came straight back.

When I panic I check my heart rate a lot and know I shouldn't I scan my body 24/7 I'm aware of every single sensation/pain and I hate it.

I'm hoping today will be a better day.

I'm thinking about taking time off sick think I'm just adding pressure on myself.

Hope you have a good day too.

It must be exhausting for you. What did the guy on the phone say? I’m glad he helped until you spoke about work again.

Yes I think time off would be a good idea to help you. Especially with your current work situation being so stressful and that being a trigger for your panic attacks. If it’s possible , I think removing yourself from work while you work on getting the attacks under control would Defo help you. Pushing yourself may cause more panic attacks and higher anxiety. Hopefully when work is sorted and not so stressful and with therapy’s you can have some rest from what you are going through. x

It is exhausting having these attacks all the time it's starting to effect my mood I'm snapping at my partner and kids but only when I'm anxious.

So not sure if that is effecting my mood or if it's just because I am anxious.

What do you do during a panic attack?

I am thinking about going on sick.

But just don't want to feel the guilt.

I hate letting people down.

I Start group therapy Tuesday.

Hope it helps.

How old are you ellie34?

Do you have kids?

Anxiety can make us have less patience or snap and I’m sure your kids and partner know that you don’t mean it. You are going through a lot and so can’t be excepted to sail through it with a big smile all the time. It’s really scary and exhausting.

I have had a couple in the last few months and all at work. I run out and go somewhere where there are no people and call someone who can take my mind off of it. Or start humming a song or look at pics that make me happy to distract myself. If you can stop it before full flow it works, but sometimes you don’t always have time to stop it.

I am 35. I think you may be the same age? As the 1983 in your name :) no I don’t have kids. My hubby’s 43 and we both decided we don’t want kids. We have our little dog who we love more than anything and so she makes us happy. :)

How many kids do you have?

Also what group therapy are you starting? I did a course last year in a group on anxiety panic and worry. x

Yeah I hope they understand. I don't mean to but I try and just keep out the way now so they don't see it too.

Ah it's crap when your at work and they come on, funny enough I do the humming but it's like a natural thing that comes when one is trying to appear but I get a dizzy spell to.

And sometimes it doesn't work.

It's nice that you have someone to talk you out of panic.

Yeah I'm 34 35 soon though lol.

Some guys don't want kids I have a few friends like that and they love their dogs dearly they are like their babies.

It's called anxiety workshop, it's for 6 weeks. So if I find a new job I might not be able to attend all of them but we will see.

It's possibly the same workshop.

Did you find it helpful?

When I call someone I don’t tell them I just call say my dad and be normal and try to distract myself. You can never forget but it has helped calm me down before.

Yes the humming works sometimes but not always. Sometimes they are too much for anything to work.

I thought you were. I made my profile name up not long before I turned 35😊

We are the same as your friends☺️ our dog is our baby😊

Yes, it sounds like it may be the same course but with a different name. Mine was 6 weeks too. 2 hours per week every week. It teaches CBT and how anxiety works and some techniques. The course I did was good and is always good to remind yourself of how it all works and what’s best to do. I found I knew all of it but mainly because I’ve been doing these things for 15 years🙈

I hope you have a good day and I hope your sister will have the best day she can also x

Ah got you, I've never tried that before I've spoken to help lines like talking changes and anxiety UK.

You could maybe try them if there's a next time.

It's nice to actually speak to someone around my own age, who has the same, but not so nice we suffer from it.

I can imagine do you spoil her

rotten, my friends dog is like a the king of the house he rules it and owns it haha.

Yeah it is by the sounds of it the same course but it's only an hour long for 6 weeks.

But the same techniques.

Glad you found them helpful I hope I do.

I've done a course like 10 year ago I just hope it's changed from then as it wasn't to helpful to me then.

I'm hoping that meeting others face to face who have similar issues will be of comfort.

Thank you ellie34, hope you all have a fab day today.
