Hi
I was wondering if anyone on here has tried hypnotherapy to help with their condition, and if so how they got on? Something I am interested in.
Thanks
Fiona

Hello
Was years ago I went and tried to give this ago , well I am not sure if it would have worked or not because I was that anxious I was fighting against him putting me under , he tried and I had taken a friend with me I was still awake and all here and looked behind me and my friend had been hypnotised and not me
Anyway it seemed to work for her because after she could put herself under and said how well it worked , so I would say if you were thinking about having a go , do some research and make sure you get a top hypnotherapist , try and relax and unlike me as I would say take someone with you don't let them go under and not you and what would you have to loose ?
That is just my opinion though others may have different views but if you do try it let us know how you get on
Take Care x
Thanks lulu-1, that's interesting to hear. Sounds like it may have more chance of working if I were to try it whilst having a 'good' period rather than in the grip of an episode, so that it's easier to relax. I am looking to try anything which is natural as I've just taken myself off of citalopram. I do not feel any more anxious than when I was taking it, just a bit more self aware. I'm hoping that will help me to deal with this thing proactively. My GP continuing to fill my prescription certainly wasn't moving me forward, i'm starting to think it was just acting as a placebo for me.
I do know that it is important for lots of people to be on these meds - I did have a period years ago when I think they made a difference - but I want to take charge of my health now and just swallowing these and hoping for the best is not cutting it for me.
I will post an update if I take this forward.
Take care x
Hello
I would say yes that it could be better if you were in one of your best frame of minds when you went but then sometimes when I tell myself I will wait till I am feeling better that time never comes so it could be a case of just going for it , they are very good and just because I was stubborn and would not let them put me under does not mean that would be the same for you even if you were anxious
I think even though we are all the same suffering with anxiety we are all different in what will work for us and if it be meds or a natural way as long as it works is the important factor
It is good you are feeling strong to stand up and have the attitude you want to take charge of your recovery that alone says something is working and I think when we know what we want to try no one should tell us any different ( unless it would harm us of course )
Good luck , I am interested to see now when and if you give this a try , if it worked for you would get me wondering if to have another go x
Hi there ~ no I've never tried hypnotherapy ~ but something that does interest me.
Oh heck I've had to laugh about lulu going and it working on her friend but not her.
Anyways enjoy rest of wknd 🙂x
Hi _Elliott_Woods
I will post on here if/when I go ahead. I'm keen to try any complimentary therapies which might help, have you tried anything else along those lines?
Interesting to hear your experience. I am really keen to try it. I think for myself it would be good as I do a lot of work on my own like meditation and positive thinking. So I think it might have half a chance of helping me.
Will post an update once I've had an appointment.
Booked a hypnotherapy session for this evening, will see how things are over next few days and let you know x
