Anxious stomach symptoms
Hello sav_11 & Welcome
Stomach issues are something that a lot of us get that suffer with anxiety , anxiety seems to attack the stomach above anything else , I have had a lot of issues with this myself and I know how unpleasant it is
The things what you can do is trying to accept this is part of your anxiety and nothing sinister , if we can accept it then it helps to eliminate the fear and less fear is less anxiety
Try practising breathing exercises , meditation things like that which if you loo on you Tube there are a lot to choose from so you can always find one that suites you and if we can learn these ways to help keep us calm when we have an attack we can put them in practice
Still make sure you eat as an empty stomach will make you feel sick , eat small and light meals and snacks as well as I find sipping water helps to
I hope others will make you feel welcomed as well as giving you some tips
Take Care x
Thank you!
I have had lots of stomach issues since suffering with anxiety, I have constipation, intestinal twitches and loss of appetite which I lost over a stone and a half in a fortnight. It’s never got better but learnt to live with it, did panic it was bowel cancer etc but being 28 I know it’s super rare for that have an ultrasound and everything came back ok.
I try peppermint tea for my stomach which has helped loads and trying to not think about it. X
Thank you I’ll try the tea!
Hi ~ like kellylorraine I also drink peppermint tea ~ in fact quite a few of the herbal teas help soothe your tummy. I suffer with IBS and any little thing can trigger it off and especially an episode with Anxiety . Also make sure you drink plenty of the good old water as well lol!!Keeping hydrated is important 😊
I had candida overgrowth from eating too much sugar and taking antibiotics. Recently was treated for sibo and did the sibo diet. I found that eliminating sugar, gluten and dairy helped with my anxiety and digestion.
There is recent research about the gut/brain axis, that our gut (stomach) is directly influenced by our brain and vice versa, so it makes sense that people with anxiety issues would also have gut issues.
There is a good book called "The anti-anxiety food solution" by Trudy Scott that I found helpful and is available on amazon.
