Hi things at new job seemed to have been going well but I feel really stupid because helped with after school club and it was tidy up time and one of the staff told me not to tidy up and leave it for the children as they need to tidy up so I feel quite stupid

There is no need to feel like that.
You did what you thought should be done.
I have 3 friends:
1. Doesn't want to be involved in anything and will always pass the buck.
2. Speaks to all concerned, but cannot make a decision how things should be done.
3. Looks at the situation, whether good or bad and gets on with it.
I always prefer to be with number 3.
Hope this helps.

Hi thank you I feel really stupid and humilated but this really helps thank you
Please don't feel like that.
Those who don't want to be involved always do that.
You did what you thought was right and maybe some of those kids appreciated you showing them what to do and helping.
Anyone can shout, very few can quietly control.

Thank you very much.I hope the staff knew I were just trying to help
I'm sure they did.
Many years ago the first time I volunteered at the playgroup my daughter was going to I did exactly the same thing, so you are not on your own many people must have done the same.
Different rules for different people.
Enjoy your job.

Hi we all make mistakes try and let it go, bet you are the only one thinking about it.
A clean slate ready for next week.
Good luck

Thank you I feel a little bit stupid for helping the children to clean up xx
don't worry many of us have been in this position. you were only doing what you felt was right. Personally I think it helps if the adults and children tidy up together as this shows team work. It's always difficult in a new job and you were just being enthusiastic. personally i'd rather work with someone who has got some get up and go.

Thank you for your reply I feel a bit silly for doing what I thought was best
hi, you did what you thought was right, you are still learning the job, that must be the way they do things there, another school would probably do it your way, personally i think it would be done by both, but i suppose the kids have to learn. love jasper xx
Thank you trying my hardest as never done childcare job before but feel like I'm.doing badly thank you
I'd hire you, no problem
It's a delight when we find staff who want to muck in and get things done. It's called team work and you're setting a great example for the kids.
Hope things are getting better for you.

I totally agree Lizard.
hi invisible, there is nothing wrong in being keen and enthusiastic. I would welcome you too!
a quiet word is the best way to advise someone on correct procedure.
some people can be great at their job, but unable to direct or talk to others.
Unless you are actually being told off, please try not to to take these things to heart, not as a personal attack.
try to see them as part of the "recipe" of working there, neccessary instructions.
Allow yourself to be like any other new person, you may make innocent mistakes, don't let it get you down.
We used to change the children into nursery t-shirts for playing outside.
Each child had their own bag on their own numbered hook.
One nursery student we had also took the childrens' vests off.
We had said change their tops and put the t-shirts in their own bags. She did that, and then put all the vests in one pile!
nearly every vest was from the same shop!
she was near to tears, but no-one told her off, we helped her feel better, but also joked about it. The 6 mum's were ok too!
please don't worry,
regards,
hamble
