Hi all, I started on 10mg of Citralopram about 6 weeks ago and then my doctors increased the dosage to 20mg 10 days ago however at the moment it does not seem to be doing anything for me? How long does it usually take to start working?
Thanks in advance

From what they say it can take about 3 months for some to start seeing the effects with these kinds of meds
As you were already on them but the dose has been increased I would have hoped within 3 weeks I would be feeling better than I was
I have not personally taken them & others that have maybe able to give better advise , but I would say you could either phone your GP & ask or the pharmacists are very good in giving advise , the number is usually on the box of meds for the chemist
Just noticed your reply from emma which is helpful & she says it was 4 weeks after as you will see , so maybe give it another week & hopefully you will see some difference
I used to take Citalopram for post natal depression and it was about 6 weeks before I noticed any difference. Like you, I had my dose increased after a while because it wasn't really cutting it, and it took another 4 weeks before the effect noticeably increased.
I got on really well with them and they were a great help, hopefully you'll find them worth the perseverance too xx
I have been getting on great with taking them however I would have thought I should be feeling the benefits by now, I will give it another 2 weeks then maybe go back to my doctors. Thanks for your advice xx
Afternoon D
I have not taken then so not much help sorry.
I wanted you to know have read your post.
I can see you have some good replies which is good.
I'm on 20mg of citalopram and this is the end of my 3rd week. I can't say I've seen a massive improvement to my anxiety, I'm still very tense and having palpitations, I still have anxious thoughts and get tingly. Um hoping they will start to work better really soon, I have one more week off work but the real test will be going back to work as that is where my anxiety lies.
