I was diagnosed with ITP a month ago. Platelets of 1. I was on Plavix and baby aspirin along with Zoloft. Was anyone on the same or similar medications when diagnosed. Initially my Dr thought the medication caused the low platelets. I have been off them for a month though and at this point it seems the only thing that makes them go up is IVig which only resulted in a temporary increase and Promacta which is what I now on. The last two blood tests my platets were at 256 and 202. The only problem is now my liver enzymes are slightly elevated so My doc cut me back on the Promacta 50mg one a day to one every other day. She has to order a new perscription for 25 mg. I will not know until next week if my platelets stay above the magic number of 30. That is nerve wracking but reading posts on from the support groups helps me stay positive. It is comforting to see I am not alone. I was in the hospital in Florida the covid state for 3 weeks. All I heard doctors and nurses say is what I have is so rare. They all seemed so concerned ( except my hematologist) that my platelets were below 10. I read the doctors report in the emergency room and she said with platelets at 1 I was super critical. My hematologist kept reassuring me that the little platelets I had were super strong and would keep me from a major bleed. Eventually with IVig treatments and promacta they went up to 202. At the point that I am hoping it was still the Plavix that caused it and it will just go away.

I hope your super platelets become super super strong. It is amazing how they work.
My kid has very low too but its normal for him.
The hard part is the parent worries too much as if he is standing on a landmine that ll blow any time.
But yes we r not alone in this.
It is a consolation.
Stay strong and stay positive.
