I have become mean to my wife. Most days I wish I hadn’t come out of my coma. I was in a coma only 11 days, but something has changed in me.
Meaness fierce coma: I have become mean to my wife... - ICUsteps
Meaness fierce coma
Yes but it can change again.
I do not know the sedatives that we’re used on me BUT I did act out of character. Yes I was quick to change mood. My wife said for a week, I was so relaxed, unguarded & funny. The drugs take a long time to leave the system. This is increased because your kidneys may not be working at full pace, hence the toxins remain in your system for longer.
You maybe interested that the side effects of the most common sedatives, propofol, barbiturates, pentobarbital, benzodiazepines, midazolam, morphine, fentanyl, opiates, ketamine & Pentothal are as follows:
Insomnia.
An increased sensitivity to sound.
An increased sensitivity to pain.
Increased perspiration.
Irritability.
Hallucinations or psychosis.
Paranoia.
Memory and attention impairments.
Emotional instability.
Suicidal ideation.
Incoordination and impaired balance.
Slurred speech.
Stupor.
I’ve become mean, so mean that my wife has left me, and all my kids will not talk to me. I wish I had never woken up
Maybe you should seek some help as I said - do not underestimate the effects of the drugs and try and get a health care professional to give you and your family some explanation & guidance.
I shall even though I have no family now
I’m sorry. I’ve never been in a coma but lots of general anesthesia. It changes me too. I’m so sorry.
I can’t go on. I wish I hadn’t awakened
I’m stuggling with similar feelings. There is a reason we are still here.
My kids hate me too. I didn’t know all those side effects were associated with surgery & hospital drugs. It will get better. You never know how old emotional wounds can be healed. Just keep going.
I know how your feeling but things will get better u come out of your coma for reason like me I was in a coma for 8 days with life threatening asthma, sepsis, pneumonia and i haven’t been myself since 2016 but am getting there slowly doesn’t help with my ptsd but you really need to speak to someone you have come this far good luck
My brother has been in a coma and now vegetative state since June 17. Life is completely hell on earth. I pray to God every day he “wakes up” knowing the chances are slim to none.
Be GRATEFUL you woke up. Be GRATEFUL you have a chance at life. My brother is 40 and his life as he knew it is over. We don’t even know if he’ll ever move or talk again. Drs say persistent vegetative state..meaning they have no real hope for him. So please count your blessings. Yeah you might have difficulty with moods but at least you HAVE moods!! Your not laying confined to a bed a vegetable. So that’s a bonus right?! Sorry if I’m blunt but from where I’m standing your one of the lucky ones. Don’t ever forget it.
You are right. I whine too much. If I may, I’ll pray for you, your family, and you. JH
What was the injury if i may ask? My husband was put in a coma for 2 weeks diagnosed persistent vegetative and i was asked basically to end his life. This was april and may and part of june. Tomorrow im going to visit him in his 2nd week of rehab and hes doing so good! He is expected to come home with time after our "hell on earth".
I will pray for your loved one to get a second chance, especially that young.
❤🙏
I had the bad flu, Asthma, and Whooping Cough. The doctors put me into a coma, then couldn’t figure out how to wake me up
I believe you can change with time especially since you are aware theres a problem. Remember with induced coma they "rest the brain" lots of drugs and you can develope many emotions from it all. You got this but it'll take patience and persistence from all parties.
Best wishes
I’m sure you have struggles that I can’t understand having not been in your situation. But you have a second chance at life and it would be good to seize that and cherish it. I’m praying against all odds my brother emerges and stuns the doctors who have dismissed chances of him recovering. And I’d definitely appreciate your prayers for my brother Jerry. Thank you.
I too changed after being in a coma. My wife said it was someone else who came out of hospital not the kind caring person who went in. I could not understand what all the fuss was about as I felt fine. It was only at a catch up meeting with the specialists who told me I had PTSD and would refer me to see someone. 18 months later I got an appointment but by that time I had worked things through myself. Don't give up hope look after yourself.
hi man i now how u feel i did nearly 8 weeks in an induced coma it changed me but things do get better
