Hi my mum is in a induced coma and had her Sadation turned off 4 days ago and still not woken up, she will talk to us but not respond to any of the nurses (pull toung out and squeeze their hand). Does anyone have any advice for us as it is really hard to understand why she won’t wake ?

Mum in induced coma
How is she responding to you like you said? That means that the sedation is wearing off, just very slowly.
It took over 8 days for my mom to come out of sedation after they stopped giving it to her. Have faith, she will wake up.
All the best!
Thankyou for ur reply. She will talk to us and move her legs but If the nurse asks for mum to squeeze her hand or pull her toung out as that is part of what they ask she will not do it. But yesterday she was talking a lot more than She has been in the past 5 days hopefully it is just the medication delaying the process, thanks very much for ur advice hope ur mum is doing ok !
Olivia12345, hope your mum is now doing much better. I was in an induced coma, and although off the sedation I could talk, my understanding of what was said back to me didn't always make sense, or what was requested of me didn't always make sense either. It just sounded like an alien gibberish language being spoken, or like there was this white deafening noise between us, blocking what they were saying so I couldn't hear them properly, I needed them to shout. Truly hope your mum is now making a good recovery.
