Does anyone know if the blood tests for Hughes have to be done within a certain time of the blood having been taken? Thanks.

As far as I know yes, which is why unless a surgery can guarantee a swift pick up time to the lab, they do them in the hospital... I may be out of date with this information, but I am sure that this was what I was told. Mary F

Thankyou so much for the speedy response :-)

I had been told this was the case by someone but it hasn't been mentioned by the GP and, as far as I'm aware, they were picked up and delivered to the lab along with all other bloods taken at the surgery that morning so I think I need to question this.

I've been told the bloods were normal but need to make an appointment to discuss them with the GP.

I just joined here today but have visited and read postings over the last couple of months and found them a huge help!!

I'm definitely feeling in need of some solidarity as it seems to be sadly lacking from some quarters of the medical profession!!

Yes, I ahd to travel from Northampton down to St Thomas as I was told if they took the bloods at Northampton and then set them by courier to London it would be to late to do the tests>

When I first had the cardiolipin anti test run on my blood in 2000, my GP griped about how expensive it was because the sample had to rushed off to Arizona(.)or some suck distant state.

Hi hon

Welcome and glad you found us. Yes they do, my dad who has sticky blood too (another name for Hughes), his blood used to clot in the tube before the local hospital could get it up to the lab. He's on aspirin now and doing so much better.

Plenty of solidarity, friendship, support and info on here hon, ask away will help if we can.

Take care gentle hugs love Sheena xxxxxxx :-) :-) :-)
