blue hand!
Hi there have you got a diagnosis of Raynauds or Lupas as well or just APS.. Whatever it I expect it has a ciculatory/sludge blood nature. What does your consultant or GP make of it ? Mary F x
Are your blue fingers numb? Is it something that happens when it is cold? I have Raynauds as well as APS and from time to time my fingers or hand (always different fingers lol) turn white, then blue then purple. Sometimes I lose feeling in the affected fingers for hours. It can also be quite painful. I have also had my entire hand turn bright red. Raynauds is worsened by cold & stress. I suspect Mary is right. It sounds as though one hand is getting much more circulation than the other one. Perhaps one hand is constricting and has low oxygen causing it to be bluish. Interesting that it is always the same hand that is blue. Talk to your doctor about it. I work in a freezer lol needless to say I get it a lot.
I have a dx of Lupus; dx of APS is not agreed by local consultant, tho prof hughes did say it was APS years ago! I have complex congenital heart disease too, so it could be something to do with that. Doctors have observed the blue hand, but not shown much interest yet. It can be hard work getting a response with all the symptoms we get cant it?
Hi there
Mine are the opposite way round to yours, but my right is my weaker side, so I guess that is why.

I have always suspected i have raynauls my hands turn red when stressed i knew it was not my imagination
I have been diagnosed with APS and possible secondary Lupus, but I had a bout of tiredness then noticed my hands. They went through some colour changes too. White, yellow then purple. When I first described it to my gp, they thought I was crazy. I had to take pictures which then proved I wasn't crazy. After seeing my pictures and listening to me, I was now given a clinical diagnosis of reynaud's. I was told that this was common in people with connective tissue and autoimmune diseases.
My left hand is often blue. Before a diagnosis of Hughes, I was told I had a thoracic outlet problem (extra rib or piece of muscle fibre on one side or both). I always mention this when I see a doctor and have had ultrasound, x-rays and nerve conduction studies but the only thing that has come up is a bone spur on C7 vertebra and sludgy blood! Certain exercises help and in particular, Pilates. I wonder if your symptoms wear off during the day like mine?
I also have Raynauds.....
