Coconut Oil
I am a big fan of coconut rum but it doesn't help memory ;)~ I am willing to give coconut oil a try. It is high in saturated fat, so maybe not the best for heart health. I know it is an antioxidant and has medium chain triglycerides. I cloth diapered my daughter so I know It is great for diaper rash & many of our dry skin problems can be greatly improved by it. I'll look into it and get some more organic virgin coconut oil.
I will also try and find some fact re this... as some coconut oil is not high in the wrong fats...will have a look this evening and see what I can find. Mary F
Wow, thank you for sharing this, the more i look into it the more I am interested in trying it. Looks like it has more benefits than I imagined. Some studies show an improvement in Alzheimer's & memory, speech & other cognitive abilities. Check this out.

Looks like i have some cooking to do! Again, thank you for sharing!
I heard about Coconut Oil from one of the above sites about ten years ago. I purchased a tub but can't say it made any difference so did not continue. Perhaps I needed to give it longer........
If you read all the gumph on these websites you would think it was the best thing since sliced bread however I can't find any real and reliable and CURRENT research on it. If anyone can I would love to read it.
I am posting a link from a site who did an article on it last September which sort of rounds up the overall view. Personally I always think that if there was a miracle cure then more people would be shouting about it......I mean why spend millions even billions on heart and stroke care if you can just stick everyone on coconut oil???? Just a thought.....
I had a look around for something down the middle so to say and this seems fairly level. raysahelian.com/coconutoil....

I check in with Dr. Mercola's alternative medicine web site every now and then and it was his arguments which convinced me to switch from Wesson to coconut oil (when olive oil is not appropriate.) So, I don't take it as a supplement but I now cook with it. When I was recovering from the memory problems I had post -strokes I used the gatteling gun approach: anything that may have helped without harm, I tried. So, that makes it hard for me to point to any one thing I did which "worked."
One thought though: do you have balance issues? My physical therapist suggested a couple of exercises/thingees which helped:
One: Scrounge your community for a skateboard which is going to be thrown out. Remove the skates so you have just the board. Go down to the hardware store and purchase PVC pipes of varying diameters, each cut to about 18" - 24" lengths. Position the board over the PVC pipe (CLOSE TO SOMETHING YOU CAN HANG ON TO) and practice balancing on the skate board with the pipe below the middle, and at right angles to the length of the board. You will find that the fatter diameter pipes are easier, so as your balance improves you can scale down to the narrower ones.
Two: (more expensive) Go to a Sports Store and purchase a . . . don't know the formal name . . . they are these inflatable half circles (flat on the bottom.) Inflate (most stores will do this for you.) Position this half dome again, beside something you can hang on to, and practice standing on it -- first with both feet, then with only 1, while dribbling a basketball, or tossing a tennis ball between your hands, or catching a tennis ball you bounce against the wall.
This latter exercise improves what my therapist called "dynamic balance."
These are 2 behaviors which I can definitely point to as helping me recover from my post stroke balance issues. I never returned to mountain biking, but I did (much to my hematologist's dismay) return to rail/trail, gravel road biking.
Good luck. I'm here with whatever support/advice I can offer (which may not be what you need.)

Thanks all! I just got some more coconut oil. It's worth a try. I plan to use it for cooking & will try to design a few recipies around it. I have dabbled in natural skin care & cleaning supplies & am open to alternative medicine. I won't take it but I will try to fit it into my diet anywhere I can. I will let you know if it helps at all
I just got your respons and have been in hosp after another stroke, learning to walk again ,
