Platelets
My platelets go up when I have iron defiency, or I have a virus.I'm glad your GP repeated the tests, did he check B12 and iron? I don't think you need to be concerned but certainly ask for the tests to be repeated in few months? If you are worried your GP is the best person to talk to.
If you have any symptoms you are worried about, go back and discuss with your GP.
At one point, some years before my symptoms were finally diagnosed as APS, my platelet count was 800! No doctors offered any explanation. I was slightly anemic, but I had been anemic since age 4. They did say that the body monitors blood particles to maintain a certain level. So, when red blood count goes down, the body will produce more white cells. This makes since because when I finally went gluten free my red blood cells AND white blood cell counts became normal.
I find it interesting when you have an FBC. There are some parts where the Consultant will immediately call even if it’s marginally out. Others they seem to shrug their shoulders and not be worried about. Guess that’s why they are doctors: we can only go by information we find and don’t really know when to worry. My hemocrit is regularly slightly high, you can scare yourself slightly silly when you read on the internet, she shrugs her shoulders and says she’d only worry if it were much higher 🤷♀️
