Ape and leg problem!

Happy and a better new year to everyone. Wondering if anyone has had a problem like I had. I have APS and on warfarin. On news year’s day I woke up with a very painful knee which was really swollen red and very painful. By Monday my leg was swollen twice the size of my other leg. I called my GP and sent a picture. She concluded it was gout which I always had associated with old men and sore toes! She prescribed gout tablets but the pain increased and so did the swelling, gp then 5 days of prednisone. A week in and unable to walk my leg whole leg turned blue. The doctor came out and I ended up in A&E and they did many tests. Also they were so kind and helpful. Turned out it was a baker’s cyst which ruptured and caused bleeds in my muscles in the lower leg! After nine hours they sent me home for my own safety. Next day they brought 2 Zimmer frames and loo paraphernalia and 6 weeks no walking ! 5 times a day on Liquid morphine .. twice a day fragmin. Not a good start of 2021. I am 72 and always a ... glass half full person! This time I am really down with it all. My husband is terminally ill and this start of the new year is extremely unpleasant. Has anyone had a similar experience ? Thank you kind regards Hedwig

You really have been in the wars with that, thank goodness they got to the bottom of it, I think you will have to literally sit it out! Do you have the support of your GP? Are friends and family able to drop things off for you that you need, and keep your spirits up with phone or video chats? I am not surprised that you feel a bit down, pain like that wears you down, and difficult as you are being a support for your husband, please post on here for support as much as you would like to. Here is what the NHS has to say about such a thing! nhs.uk/conditions/bakers-cy...

Hi Hedwig so sorry to read your problems you must be worried sick about your husband let alone anything else. I to have aps and had a similar problem 5 years ago. My leg did eventually clear up took about 3 months but my warfarin levels took 6 months to level. But hey still here.

Persevere you will come out the other side bless you. Regards Diane

Ohhh noooo.... I am so sorry to hear things have been so horrible for you. Yes, I have had something similar, but different. In 2016, my right arm swelled up 3x the size of my left arm. My hand turned blue. It was right after I had My Right knee (ACL reppair) From being on crutches I got blood clots under My arm pit. My subclavian under my 1st rib & collar bone was concluded. I had to have both 1st ribs cut out because it was causing Thorasic Outlet Syndrome. I am like Adam, I only have 11 ribs. Every breath hurt for about a year. I totally get it. I detoxed off of Oxicodone twice. You and your spouse will be in my prayers. May you find comfort & peace. A heart full of love. Serena
