Superdrug b12 test

Hi.

I recently purchased a do it yourself b12 kit, but I was unable to get enough drops of blood to the fill line.

They rejected my sample saying it had haemolysed, and sent me another.

I have just heard back from them to say the same thing with my second.

Trouble is, as I,m not on any thinners, I can barely get my fingers to bleed.

I followed all hints and tips ie. Have warm shower, exercise, put hands under hot tap etc.

I had to use all three needles and really squeeze just to manage a couple of drops from each prick

I am sorry it was so difficult, did the kit have an elastic band to put around the finger? I find finger prick tests a nightmare, however I do use them, also making sure I am really hydrated before doing it. MaryF

No, no elastic band.

I was well hydrated.

They are sending me one last try.

I shall give the rubber band a try

Thanks for that

Is there a reason that you are not on blood thinners?

I was on aspirin since 2007, but got taken off about a year ago.

To be honest I am very unhappy about it, but they said they had to weigh up the risk of a clot with the risk of a bleed

I don’t know about your case but for me I was on aspirin always took it with food, I don’t have asthma or any stomach problems, still had clots on it, anyway since being on Warfarin I now bleed when I cut myself, not a lot, blood circulation has also improved on my legs as I actually have hairs on them now, nice 😎

Just wondering if it was a doctor who knows about antiphospholipid syndrome

But you should do what your doctor says, if it were me I would ask for a second opinion

Yes, it was an Aps specialist, at the Lupus unit.

I recently attended a private appointment, as I wasn't happy

I think your blood is too thick. That is perhaps why it is so difficult at the moment.

Look for a Doctor who knows all your autoimmun illnesses very well. We have talked about that earlier. Do you still have a diagnose of Antiphospholipidsyndrome? That is not taken away as the RA and Sjögrens.

Yes, I do, and I thought that too.

I would think you have probably been seen by the best of the best then, so I would follow their instruction, ? Have you got raunalds if not really warm your hands, good luck
