My daughter Who has tested positive for aps was pregnant On daily heparin injections. But sadly 3 days ago the bsby had no heartbeat and now she has to wAit 2 more days then deliver the baby is there any way that the placenta will be examined to see if any small colts that caused it or if it was just natural causes that caused it? She just keeps being told thst next time she gets pregnant things will be fine no one seems to understand the implications of aps snd as she was on heparin it’s been assumed that all would be ok!

I feel so sad for her. I was in the same situation 20 years ago as I had had four miscarriages and one still birth Before being diagnosed with aps. I then had two more miscarriages before having twin girls. Unfortunately there is no guarantee that a pregnancy will continue even if you are on heparin. The placenta and cord should be checked for clots or any other issues as should her bloods. Please pass on my best wishes and tell her my story if you wish. Medicine has evolved so much since my babies arrived so I hope she will go on to have the baby she wants. Xx Emma

I’m sorry to hear of her loss! Please tell her she is in my prayers. My daughter has APS and has delivered 2 healthy babies at 8 months pregnant. She was on Coumdian until she missed her period and the doctors immediately placed her on lovenox injections 2x a day . This treatment plan was successful! I wish your daughter the best !

I'm sorry for all your sadness and grief your whole family are going through.

Yes it's important your daughter gets some medical answers, although sometimes this is not always possible.

Its important she has an APS specialist look after her, for future pregnancy, has she got this?

Time to grieve and heal now, each baby is precious and will always be remembered xx

Sshe had only A telephone consultation due to Covid with a haematologist and an obstetrician who advised heparin injections as soon as she was pregnant, But no other follow up. She had tested positive to aps 10 years ago following my diagnosis of it following amajor stroke that I had. So she had been seen by A haematologist who seemed very knowledgeable about aps.

Thank you she had an aps consultant and obstetrician his time but due to Covid she only had phone consultations with them and her midwife. Which hadn’t helped

I’m so sorry your family is going through this. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I have aps and lost my daughter in 2007. They did an autopsy and discovered clots in the placenta. Turns out they didn’t have me on nearly enough clexane. I’ve since had two healthy babies on the correct dose of 1mg/kg twice daily. Sending your daughter lots of strength to get through the next few months. When I had my daughter a lovely midwife took some family photos of us with our baby and prints of her little hands and feet. It was the last thing on my mind at the time but I’m so glad she did. ❤️

I am so sorry for her loss. I lost 4 before my daughter. For me I paid Privately to see Mr Raj Rai at St Mary’s in London and had a TEG test which proved I needed 150mg aspirin and 5000 units of fragmin for a successful pregnancy (with aspirin and fragmin you have about 80% chande of success - I will post the study once I find the link) Ultrasounds every two weeks from 24 weeks to check growth and blood flow and induced at 38 weeks. Placenta checked at birth and no clots. Wishing her and your whole family all the best and sending lots of love.

How very tragic- I hope the healing is starting.

An APS specialist can hopefully guide this when the timing is right. ❤️
