Have you experienced a sudden shortage of plaquenil/hydroxycholoquine since the coronavirus?

I am very worried about not being able to get hydroxychoroquine since it's now being used for the coronavirus.

Yes, my area in Texas is having some trouble.

I’d ask your pharmacist- i had to go to other pharmacies and my pharmacist had to “ transfer” my prescription over.

From what I understand/read/heard, this is being mass produced right now.

India makes key ingredient for it, India is in lockdown and has blocked all exports.

In Sydney Australia we have none. They don’t know when we will get more as the suppliers keep changing the date. There is a shortage due to doctors prescribing other doctors & their family/friends just in case they get Coronavirus. So a heap of people have stockpiled it like the toilet paper just in case which unfortunately means people who need it & have used it for years cannot get it. They are also using it to test for research & a lot is going to hospitals.

I’m in the UK, non of local pharmacies have any in stock and they’re unable to order due to limited supply. My GP has simply said there’s nothing I can do so will just have to wait until there’s some available again. Take my last one tonight. I’ve been on it for 5 years and also have lupus. Not sure on the implications of not taking it. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

I’m so sorry you haven’t been able to get any. I found a bottle but had to drive 1.5 hours to get it but it’s looking like I won’t be so lucky next time. The only thing I have read is that it does stay in your system for a little while & most people shouldn’t have a flare up for 2-3 months. Hopefully they will have increased production enough by then. Wishing you the best & hope you get some soon. Take care.
