I sometimes get periods of severe itching that is very random and occurs throughout my body. When it happens, I’ll take a Claritin allergy pill and Whether fr the pill or not, it eventually subsides but still milder itching fr time to time.
I also have MCTD

This might be something to consider asking your Rheumatoligist about. ( it’s a disorder of the innate immune system.)
Dr Jill Schofield, an APS specialty Rheumatoligist in Denver Colorado, has found about 50% of APS patients have MCAS.
Benedryl (dye free) is a good medication for this. It’s an anti histamine- a histamine blocker. Zertec is helpful also. Make sure you check with your doctors before using new meds.
There are foods to avoid as well- and dye, and excipients in medications.
Ps- I might add- a good read is Never Bet Against Occam, by Dr Laurence Afrin. He’s a hematologist in Armonk, NY. Very near you.
I get phases of this, I can't always tell where one disease starts and another ends. I do take an antihistamine and I also bathe in either Dead Sea bath salts of Epsom Salts, and use very cooled down natural aloe vera gel which I keep in my fridge. It it does get out of hand do take photographs of any hives in case you need to visit the GP. MaryF
Not sure if it’s true but I was told that having too much sugar in your body can make you itch, not sure how but I noticed over Christmas that I was a little more itchy and wondered if it had anything to do with the extra sweet treats!!!
