When my wife was in her teens she had ulcerative colitis and had her large bowl removed and a bag, later she had the reversal to remove the bag, still has no large bowl but can go on the loo, she suffers chronic indigestion problems and has recently found out she has a hiatus hernia, on top of all this she has had a couple of what seemed like allergic reactions that were unexplained both times she was tearing strips out of her arms n hands through pain and itching, more recently she has had a lot of pain and itching in her hands and forearms, she's a bit overweight, breathless and sleeping all the time, also very moody and argumentative.
Any advice welcome 👍

Hi if your wife had Hughes Syndrome/APS she would have some of the symptoms, and if so would need blood tests, often when people are tested they also have their Thyroid tested plus levels of D, B12 and Iron. Nothing in your post above indicates Hughes Syndrome, often if people have it others in the family have Thyroid or other autoimmune conditions, plus a history of migraines, miscarriages, still birth, a red lacy type rash, or DVT's and or strokes etc, ie blood clots at an early age. She had to have a corse of injections just before Xmas for low Vitamin B12 and has been told be her sister she needs her thyroid tested because she has simular symptoms to her

I agree with MaryF that your wife does not have any typical symptoms of our illness. What Mary says is vital to find out anyway and I think she should see a Doctor.
Has she had a clot in her lungs or very high bloodpressure as to her breathlessness?
So, your wife has a similar history to me. The docs said I developed APS (Hughes/Sticky blood) after several clotting incidents (3 DVTs, 1 PE, 1 bilat PE). Unless she has had clotting, the symptoms you mention could be down to lots of things. I'm no expert, but the tiredness could be low iron, which could be due to a number of things, but having had a collectomy, your wife won't absorb iron (And other vitamins and minerals) as effectively as before. The irritability could be due to the symptoms making her feel rubbish.
I don't think I do as that has gone away, I think that was just a stressful time I was going through, stress does do weird things to you, that could be a lot of my wifes trouble she's a very stressy person
Hi, I think you have landed on this site and read some of the posts and can see similarities, so have put things together. It doesnt sound like your wife has APS, but we are not docters.
Your wife has got an autoimmune disease - ulcerated colitis, as well as B12 defiency, both these diseases will make her feel rough and cover the symptoms you describe.
I would suggest she sees her GP and requests further blood tests, for APS, thyroid, iron and vit D levels. It is very common to have more than one autoimmune disease, also worth mentioning her pain and itching.
I hope she starts feeling better soon and its wonderful she has a supporting, caring husband - carry on trying to find the cause.
