Hi, sorry it has been a while, I have now had my second appointment at Derriford and a lovely letter from Guys and ST Thomas'.
The letter stated that as I have had 3 consecutive miscarriages and that I have an anticardiolipin antibody of Igm, that fulfilled the criteria for obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome. I do not require anticoagulation.
They recommend to test for associated Lupus.
Also to have my eyes tested so they can ensure it is safe to treat for systematic exhaustion which is secondary to APS.
The team at Derriford have been extremely helpful and efficient in arranging all the required tests and I have another appointment in November. Hopefully I will know more then.
It feels good to be believed.

Good you have a diagnosis xx sorry for your losses.... It is a relief. to be listened to isn't it.... Don't lose hope... I have 2 healthy children it is possible... Had issues on my youngest but was looked after well and it success
It is essential to be believed. Conversely, it is a disgrace not to be believed by the very people we have turned to for help!
Just for clarification. Do you mean the lupus anti-coagulation test? This is a confusing blood test both for doctors & patients because it is NOT a test for SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus), but a complicated clotting test.
Approximately 25% (figures vary) of people with SLE also have APS/Sticky Blood/Hughes Syndrome.
Sorry about your miscarriages, so very difficult, and I am so pleased you have been seen and treated well at the hospital with the back up paper work from London, it must be such a relief for you to be in that system now. Sending you best wishes. MaryF
