Does anyone here have there own IRN machine to test at home? If so , did you pay out of pocket for it or did your insurance cover the cost? If insurance did help with it what insurance company do you have or how did you go about getting your machine? My dr has written me a script for a machine but insurance doesn’t want to cover it. I have United Health Care Community Plan under Medicaid. I like the plan for the most part, I don’t have many issues having anything covered, only recently they’ve been restricting certain meds but I never have issues seeing my drs or need to have prior auths to see my specialists.

IRN MACHINE
Hi, I do hope you are able to get your prescription done, with the help of your GP. Most in the UK buy their own, and find that alongside testing at the clinic regularly, having the machine greatly helps them. MaryF
I have a home tester. I have had insurance coverage (not so great under my health plan) and in the end I purchased a tester. With the way my insurance covered the machine, I would basically be buying a tester every year...so, I just purchased one. I also understand that the results can be different than blood draws. When I have a draw done, I self test to see what is the ration between the two.
My father had pulled studies of certain machines, he has one because he has heart disease but whatever I test with it, it throws me a code or come CRAZY INR#. He checked with the FDA and the machine he has says it isn’t compatible for people who have antibody issues/ condition, which explains why it doesn’t give me an accurate result. That’s why I asked my dr about getting a machine for myself. They use a CoaguChek XS Professional Meter Kit at my drs office to check my ranges, and do a vein draw for comparison but usually only because I insist on it.. the ranges are usually within a.01 of each other so I know that machine is good.
My insurance did not cover. ( BCBS - top package option.)
Also a coagucheck.
Hi
I have my own machine. I bought it myself but I get the strips and needles etc on prescription. I only have to attend the clinic for testing twice a year to make sure I am still in touch and my machine is working okay. It is always accurate and the same one only smaller that they use in clinic.
Love it and would buy another if it went wrong.
Good luck
Karen
