Hi,

I started taking 100mg of compounded plaquenil. It helps by making my muscles fire up & work, but it also makes my entire body hurt. Has anyone else had this response to the medication?

Hi, my daughter felt a bit rough on it when she first started but then this calmed down over time, however for me a very dangerous reaction so did not get past the first 4 days. MaryF

When I took it before I had a bad reaction. Dr Schofield told me it was the inactive ingredients. She recommended having it made without the fillers so it is hydroxychloroquine (active ingredient in plaquenil). But your daughter is right, I really hurt, but I will stick with it so I can get stronger. Thanks Mary

I might add that my mix of diseases made me unsuitable for Plaquenil.... I have very serious reactions to most things, I hope things improve for you speedily. MaryF

No the reverse in fact when first started taking it.it really improved my muscle and joint pain. Think body got used to it now so less effective or I've got worse.

Hi Fra,

What INR number do you have nowadays?

Have you found a Specialist after you have moved? Is she or he ok?

Best wishes........ Kerstin

I’m one of the lucky ones when it comes to plaquenil and it works just as it should.

I take 400mg daily for joint pain and fatigue. I take the brand Quinoric which I know doesn’t agree with many people.

Luckily I have had no side effects and it has almost completely rid me of joint pain in my shoulders/knees/elbows/wrists and my energy returned a lot.

I hope you manage to get past the side effects and find a benefit from it.

I tried two generic forms and a compounded form, but could take none of them due to increased bleeding and migraines. I tried each of them just as StickyBloodMentor described, starting very slowly. Then when I reacted again, I had to wait for symptoms to subside after coming off each one. It was a long process. So a reaction to the inactive ingredients was ruled out for me.

Good luck to you, I hope you're able to make it work.!
