Hello I was diagnosed more than one year ago with dvt but I'm due to have operation today my dvt doctor said that it's alright to go for it but I'm really scared of my blood clot travelling to my lungs. Can somebody help me what should I do? Operation what I'm due to have is not long one and I will go home the same day

What anticoagulation are you on for your Hughes? Need to tell your treating doctor (for APS) and they can arrange a bridging protocol for you. It will depend on what meds you are taking now.

My dvt doctor said I have to stop taking medicine rivaroxaban. And I'm ok to have this operation. But since I stopped it I can feel my leg feeling more tender and swallen

I presume your surgeon told you to stop taking the rivoraxaban and is aware of your APS?

Are you at the hospital now?

You need to urgently talk to surgeon/nurse. A bridging plan should have been in place for the surgery. You also need to know how soon you can go back onto rivoroxaban after surgery?

I agree with what you have been told above, each hospital will have a bridging plan for patients like yourself, do you have a friend or relative with you who can help you? MaryF

I have had many surgeries and as bad as i am i don't regret any of them , so i would go forward just watch the bridging protocol- their have been many posts on here about that !! let us know how things pan out for you best to you

I have just broken one of my lower molars which my dentist says is now beyond repair. I am going to see an oral surgeon in the next few days to have it removed but spoke to my Haem about what to do re the Rivaroxaban. He says stopping the med 24-36 hours and recommencing after 6 hours. He didn't recommend any other form of bridging. I'll let you know how I go (not looking forward to it at all!) I have decided to be a big chicken and have it removed under sedation so probably won't be done for a week or so.

Hope your operation has gone well for you.
