In her book, Positive Options for Antiphospholipid Syndrome, Triona Holt says that acetaminophen (Tylenol) can affect your INR. ( Page 118) Does anyone know if it interferes with specific blood thinners or affects everyone taking it?

Question about acetaminophen
Hi Dobiedogz,
It is a discussion of INR here on this site at present.
I know that I need a long walk every day to feel good but I have not thought about my INR. How does it effect your INR? Does it raise the INR or vice versa?
Very interested to know.

Im with Kerstin on this, the walking helps even when the joints seize up walking even around the house on those days doing little things helps, movement is a key element for my life when navigating through this disease. When I sit at my desk I take constant breaks getting up and down for movement, blood flow, circulation. It's imperative
INR is used to measure the affects of warfarin so it would only be an issue if you are on warfarin.
It is also known as paracetamol in some countries. It is something that can affect INR but it doesn't always. It doesn't affect my INR but it is something you should be mindful of if you are on warfarin and need to take it. It is one of the few pain killers recommended for use with warfarin.
As with all medications always check with your medical team before adding anything new to the mix.
Traditionally it has been thought to be a very safe drug when taken in the recommended doses, however more recently it has been discovered not to be as risk free as previously thought.
That sounds resonable that the INR increases.
When you go for weekly check see to it that you do not go under 2.8 which is a rather low INR. Most of us feel better on a higher level. Did you find any difference in well-being when you had that high INR compared with your usual INR?
Thank you for answering and good luck with the exercise!

I am on Warfarin and take Tylenol for pain--rarely more than 2 a day and 2 on a day when I'm in a lot of pain and thankfully, I do keep active and move a lot including walking up to my 5th floor walkup apartment. Tylenol was on my ok list of drugs to take and in moderation as mentioned.
Thank you all.
my Endocet is 7.5 with 325 Acetaminophen {tylenol } but it aids my other meds and it is a low dosage
i asked to maybe get rid of some of my meds because of the liver problems > !
no was it --
ibuprofen was a define t no and in-saids { spelling ?]of any kind
jetjetjet beware - if you have liver problems the Acetaminophen could be the root of it, so best to discuss this with your doctor. Acetaminophen overdose causes permanent fatal liver damage, and regular misuse can damage the liver, so I would be asking to swap your painkiller...
I was told by coumadin clinic that Tylenol is what I can take vs. Ibuprofen or aspirins. Geez... can they get any of this straight? Seems every time coumadin calls me for dose changes they tell me something different.
