Hi, the best place to start looking is on this list: apsaction.org/ and also local knowledge from other members, this is the list we recommend, we can't personally or as a charity recommend any others. MaryF

Hi Rosemary76210 -

I have APS and live in Houston, TX and would love to correspond with you. After reading Kay Thackeray's books, I have been on a mission to find one person here in Houston who has it. However, after seeing your post I decided to cast my net a little wider! If there is a way we can private message or email, that would be great if you are open to it.

PS- Thank you Brits so much for all of your helpful info! I was disappointed to find on the American board I looked at (the one for the APS organization) that the newest comment was 3 or 4 years ago so this is my go to site for APS info. I can't thank you enough.

As you can see on our charity web pages, the only one we can actually recommend is listed as APS Action currently: hughes-syndrome.org/self-he...

I just found a rheumatologist in Irving who knows about APS. Her name is Renuka Basavaraju. She is at 2021 N MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX. I went to my 1st appt. with her last week and really liked her. She referred me to a cardiologist to make sure APS did not affect my heart valve. She said that could be causing my extreme fatigue. She explained a few things about APS that no one had explained before. She is also an immunologist. I am not sue if Irving would be convent for you or not.

Thanks, Raking223. This is really helpful. Irving would not be a bad commute as I live just south of Denton. So far, I have been told take a full strength aspirin and call me if you have another event or in six months if you don't. The first event left me with very poor vision in my right eye and balance problems. I would really like to avoid a second one, and I am not sure my hematologist has much experience with this since he works in an oncology clinic.

I have switched to Dr. Dhiman Basu. He seems to know more than Dr. Basavaraju. My internist knows both and said that he would go to Dr. Basu. He is in Colleyville.

Sorry meant to say not sure if Irving would be convenient.

My hematologist is also my oncologist...had cancer a couple of times. He is good about monitoring my INR but doesn't go beyond that like the Rheumatologist did. I had a lot of questions I was throwing at her. She examined me and then addressed each of my questions. Write down everything you want to know and I imagine she will give you thorough answers. Let me know what you think if you go to her. I would like to know if you get the same impression.

Do you like your new dr? I need a hematologist. I've started to feel overwhelming exhaustion, has anyone else felt this way?

I would try to get to hemo as soon as possible. While you are having symptoms. Meanwhile have your GP run the recommended tests for thyroid and iron and vitamin B, D, etc that the administrators always recommend. See my reply to AAC1818 above.

Hi Txmama79,

You have answered on a 2 year old question. I can see you have joined our site today. I wonder if you have HS/APS like the rest of us here on this site?

If you have been diagnosed with this autoimmun illness i think you should put your new fresh question on our site and that way you will get more answers. Also tell us where you live and a little about yourself and that way we are able to help you pehaps to find a Specialist.

Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm
