Hi Mary

I understand that this is suitable for Lymphoedema but not Lipoedema. I have asked! The consensus is that for Lipoedema, having this type of surgery puts you at risk of having it come back but lumpy/bumpy and worse.

Useful article though, thank you for posting.

Thanks for the clarity, I hope they keep working on such things, if i find anything else out I will come back to you. MaryF

You can also have Lipo-Lymphoedema so whether or not it's suitable for that is another question. I am going to the lymphoedema Clinic next week and will ask.

Well at least I have learnt a bit more today! I continually try and get a hold on new stuff, due to all the overlapping things we have. I guess with your type you have to do the compression thing? I remember a friend of my mother's having some sort of inflatable leg things which she had at home. MaryF

Yes I wear made to measure tights. I get two pairs every 4 months (Wow!) on the NHS. Inevitably I end up with the equivalent of footless tights as the holes get bigger and bigger! The rest of the time I try opaque tights but... nothing quite prepares you for the Lipoedema diagnosis. It feels like a slap round the face and whilst there are many with much worse out there it only goes in one direction so I feel somewhat trapped in my big leg body. Silly. I know!

It is not silly to feel that way. I get driven mad by my head to toe Psoriarsis, which reacts to every virus I come into contact with, these things are sent to try us, grrr etc. MaryF

They are. I'm still smiling though! :)

Wow Mary! These pictures from Wikipedia look like my thighs. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lip...

I never knew until now. Up until 5 years ago, I was underweight, no chest, flat stomach and yet huge thighs. While in the last five years I have gained weight all over, my thighs are still huge in comparison. Thank you for this eye opener!!!
