On top of everything I now seem to be having an early menopause- could this be related to my APS or just a coincidence ?

Hello Nbarnes,

I don't know if this has a relation with APS, the thing is that I'm 40 and last December the gynaecologist told me that I was starting the menopause. Exactly he said I was peri-menopaused. I don't have children and I was trying to conceive, that was the only news that I was need it.

Hi Nbarnes

Had to reply to this one

I was told I was through the menopause at 40 (blood test and scan, apparently my ovaries were like little black stones) Sik months later I had cyclophosthamide drip (mild Chemo) please excuse spelling!! Anyway long story short my period returned every 28 days apparently my immune system must have been attacking my ovaries and the immune suppressant drug saved them, I had another 2 years then went through menopause again, On that occassion i just let nature take its course, my menopause was quick and relatively problem free and I have to say I'm glad to be rid of the curse Definately for me the monthly hormones had a terrible effect on my health now after menopause things are more settled, wishing you the very best of luck but for me early menopause was a blessing not a curse

Hello Nbarnes.

I also went through the early menopause i was 37, i am sure there is a connection with APs as a few people have mentioned it. The only good thing is you do save money with not buying the monthy item, but the hot sweat etc are nightmare, i was not allowed on HRT as i have had two strokes and lupus/Aps, they only thing that helps it clondine. Hope you dont get to much trouble with this.

My mother has APS went through meno at 37. I have APS i started at 28 and because i was almost bleeding to death every month i had a hysterectomy at 33. They are almost positive my grandmother and her 9 sisters had APS and all 10 of them went through menopause between 32 And 37. So my doc thinks it has something to do with APS

my menopause was also early...i started at 38...

Hi nbarnes. Not sure about connection with aps and menopause. However I have had major problems with fibroids for years now so was put on an injection to stop hormones therefor have been dealing with a chemically induced menopause at the age of 42. I'm not able to take anything to help it but I did find a Lady Care magnet helps amazingly with flushes and mood swings. Hope you get the outcome you are looking for x

Premature ovarian failure (early menopause) may be autoimmune, like APS, and many people have more than one autoimmune disorder.

My gp suspected early menopause with me last year, suddenly the length of periods reduced, and this month for the 1st time ever i was a week early, this would be a blessing though with warfarin and aspirin!

Hi, I had early menopause too, I was 47 years old. (perimenopause started at age 37) My Gyne specialist said he thought it was due to having SLE. The body was attacking my ovaries. The Hughes generally makes me ill though not the SLE. Do you have Lupus?

Hi I am 46 and currently going through as my dr says early menopause, I don't mind lol I have 5 children mostly all grown now :) I don't miss the monthly bleeding but I do hate the fatigue stroke insomnia I alternate between the two, the worst is the day and night sweats, the worst is the dr says I have to stick it out as because of the aps I can't have hrt but on the upside it should end soon........I live in hope lol
