Oh great ...yet another guilt trip. Mothers get blamed for everything and now my children's autism is my fault too.

(not aimed at you Mary but the researchers)

There are so many possible reasons, I have many friends who have children with Autism, (looking after one child now as I type this). I think the word fault must come out of it....but the subject matter certainly needs research. Mary F xxx

Thank you yet again Mary for a very interesting find & read......

It's not nice to feel we may be the cause with the link between auto immune disorders & Autism or any other new reports that may arise? ....but like with many diseases etc people get, we never know quite often that they could be passed to our children.....& often it isn't too.......mine were ok, as so are many others? you cannot take the blame on board of something that is really out of our hands & for many unknown when we were having our children? like Mary says the research is still going on too x

Yes I remember, hence me loading this up! xx MaryF

I dont think its about assigning blame to anyone, but if there is a link it needs investigation in order to find the best ways of approaching the issue

I have auto immune issues, my maternal grandmother certainly did and I also believe my mother did (although undiagnosed). My sister and her son have learning issues.

I actually emailed this study to Professor Hughes himself as he has an ongoing interest in this subject. All the best to you. Mary F x

I have often wondered if there was a link, I have a son with aspergers, and when I go to autism support groups I often meet parents with auto immune conditions.

Yes Professor Hughes's himself often talks about perhaps there being a link in there somewhere, although I have a friend with autistic children and no hint of any disease in the family of any sort. Such a mystery and one which needs support, to find help for the children. Mary F x
