Hello been controlling Paroxysmal AF quite well for a few years. Recently started trying a keto diet and thought I would use Psyllium Husk as part of my breakfast. That was about 9 days ago, since then I have had 3 AF attacks.
coincidence ?
I converted back with flecainide, all came on overnight about 2 hours into sleep.Anyone else had an issue with Psyllium Husk and any AF or palpations ?
Stopped taking today , so I'll see if thing improve
thanks

I doubt very much it’s the psyllium husk. It’s fairly inert. It’s essentially 100% fibre.
I’d seriously consider with this keto diet regime is for you. Putting the body into ketosis will create a significant change in your metabolism and biochemistry, and this may well influence your heart rhythm, much more so than adding a bit of fibre into your diet.
With any of these dietary regimes you need to know your ‘why’. Although I accept that it suits some highly motivated people, many people can’t sustain in the medium to longer term. Any dietary discipline that involves the restriction of specific foods or entire food groups needs very careful consideration with regard to dietary deficiencies. There is no one right way of eating, many diets can be healthy, but ultimately the best diet is the one you can stick with.
My husband is coeliac so psyllium husk or equivalent is a dietary way to replicate the characteristics of gluten. As we keep a mostly gluten free household because of his condition I end up eating psyllium husk in his gluten-replicated food like homemade bread etc. I have no noticeable reaction. Like the other reply, I’d think you’re possibly reacting to the extremes of impact of a keto diet. Hope that helps.
