Hello all - my first post! I was diagnosed with heart block and after an EP test this week, it has been confirmed as Second degree heart block, type 2. I have been scheduled for a pacemaker, MRI compatible, implant this Wednesday, 26 September.
At 49 I really feel that I'm in a surreal experience and that it's hard to believe that it's really happening to me. I'm a healthy, active female, with no previous heart conditions, and only noticed breathlessness earlier this year which I had attributed to allergy symptoms. when the antihistamines didn't work, I worried that it might be asthma. I got a new Apple Watch in May and the readings I was getting during cardio exercise were strange - dropping down to 60bpm during HIIT and cardio. I have to say that it's thanks to the Apple Watch that I went to see the cardiologist. Previous to that I was on the point of going to the Apple store to say that their watch wasn't working and it was rubbish!! Who knew .... just goes to show that it can happen to anyone and you don't have to old/overweight/unfit to have a heart problem.
So right now, I'm getting used to my new reality, which I hope won't be very different from the life I was leading before this year.
