Hi, I am Jonp, new here, 68 year old man. Had polio as a boy but have been fairly active despite a weak leg. Started having palpitations (missed beats) 6 or 7 years ago, got worse 4 years ago. Heart would skip 1 out of 6 beats, sometimes every other beat, for hours every day for months. I discovered they were triggered by wind in stomach and bowels, caused by swallowing air or co2 drinking daily can of lager and hot tea/coffee. By controlling these I was able to almost eliminate palps. Now they have returned, triggered, I think, by swallowing air when talking a lot or talking while eating. Stress may also be involved. I have recently read that my childhood polio may have caused some damage to the brain and the vagus nerve and am wondering if this makes me vulnerable to palpitations. Anyone else with a similar story?

Hi I get the missed beats due to having bad anxiety and when bloated also. I don't know about the polio part but yes can be linked to stomach issues x
Yes, I often get palpitations if I eat too much or have wind.
