Regrowth of Pathway AVRNT Cryoablation

Hi guys My 11yr old had her ablation done in December for AVRNT they said it was frozen because of the location (av node) but there is a 10% that the pathway can return. My question is have many people on this forum had the cryoablation done and it has reversed? She is doing great now off all beta blockers and can finally relax without the fear of SVT episodes which were happening monthly to her even on medication.

Hello there. Everything sounds pretty good for your daughter! May things continue to go well.

I'm not sure you will get a balanced view of ablation successes because those who have had had no further problems are unlikely to be lingering here. All you can do is hope that there will be no need for a touch up procedure, either in the next few years or the distant future.

Thanks for the reply Hidden yeh I kind of figured that there might eb a lean towards the reoccurance side of things on the forum. It's hard to gauge as we don't know anyone else whose child has had an ablation done

Most people who need ablations tend to be elderly, though there are a few in their 20's and 30's. I think I may have once or twice seen reference to ablations for children.

Yes it's not as common to do them on children in UK & Ireland I've found. They decided due to the frequency of her episodes and the fact she was having breakthrough episode that they would get it done rather than leave her with constant symptoms.

And quite possibly better than taking medication. Early intervention can be more successful too.
