My hormones history is very long, so I won'tgo into great detail , but I had a hysterectomy (everything gone) about 16 years ago. I did fine on 1 mg oral estradiol for about 8 years.
About 8 years later, I crashed badly with every menopausal symptom. The worse being the psychological ones. Not one doctor was able to help me. They just kept trying all kinds of antidepressants and still no relief. I am currently on Adderall because I was diagnosed ADHD. i never struggled with ADHD symptoms before, so not really sure about that. But,it keeps me functioning.
Last simmer I saw a GYN and she increased my estrogen to 2 mg oral. i tried all the transdermals and they didn't work well fir me. I felt much better after about 7 weeks, but the ADHD symptoms did not go away. So, out of frustration, I went to a Natropath to see if he could help. He talked me into changing my estrogen to a compounded cream and added progesterone and testesterone cream. About 5 weeks later, I crashed hard again.
I put myself back on the oral estrogen and felt some relief pretty quickly. I went to another GYN who thought maybe a bump to 2.5 mg of oral estrogen and a little testosterone would help with the lingering symptoms. Well, since the increase in estrogen, each week has gotten worse and worse with anxiety. I am now at 6 weeks and the anxiety and mood swings are awful. I requested a low dose of Wellbutrin until I get this sorted out. My GYN is not responding to my phone calls. So, this morning I dropped back down to 2 mg oral to see if I am just overdosed on estrogen. I hope that relieves the anxiety. The first week on 2.5 mg was wonderful! I was so productive abd calm, but by the 2nd week, things quickly went downhill and ate continuing to go downhill.
Has anyone else found themselves taking too much estrogen? I am not getting the medical support I need, so trying to figure out what my body is trying to tell me. I need some relief from this anxious feeling.

I feel like your biggest issue can be your stress hormone cortisol.
Hope it will help to find a remedy for your hormonal problems
Are you taking progesterone along with estrogen? It is very important no matter what doctors might say that you dont need it because no uterus any more. It is neccessary to take natural micronized progesterone because it has several protective functions, not synthetic progestins but natural microcised progesterone capsule. It helps also greatly in preventing insomnia.
Hi there - I had a total hysterectomy (ovaries gone) about 3 years ago. I was post menopausal at the time. I am now 62 years old. I get bad days with anxiety as I suffer with generalised anxiety disorder (dependent upon personal circumstances) but I haven’t needed to take any hormones. I wasn’t offered any - I do suffer from after effects of operation with a decline in my bladder and bowel function though. Do I need additional hormones - maybe - I don’t know? The significant problem for me is an increase in joint pain in wrist (old fracture) and lower leg. I have increased physical exercise (bought an exercise bike) and found it helps with my mental health and improved fitness. Are you taking hormones when you don’t need to? I don’t know as I’m a novice where HRT is concerned .
For your bowel function I eat 1 piece of raw grated carrots sprinkled with salt on top, it was a huge help in helping daily normal bowel movement. I eat it betweem meals never forget it, it helps also to clear the eccesive estrogen, helps in estrogen dominance almost every women suffers after menopause because there is no progesteron to balance our estrogens.
I am so sorry you are going through this! I am 49 and also been struggling with anxiety depression etc. I am also frustrated. My GP continues to just want to increase the antidepressants. I am also on Adderrall and when we bumped from 20mg to 30mg it made me feel panicky. I hesitate to discontinue it altogether, because it helps me function without wanting to sleep all the time. I hope you get this sorted out. I also consulted a Naturopath, and am using Progesterone cream, but didn't react great to the dosage-it made me feel "puffy" and sleepy. So I cut that back. She told me that progesterone has a calming effect on the nervous system. But too much just puts me to sleep. Hard to live like that as well.
