Allergic reaction after hysterectomy

Hello ladies,

I’m new to this community and I’m glad to be here. So I’m 36yrs old and I had a hysterectomy two weeks ago, only kept ovaries. I’ve been itching terribly around my incisions and Gyn says it’s an allergic reaction to the glue used on incisions but now the itching is traveling pretty much all over my body, it’s deep, crazy itchy, and it’s driving me insane! I’ve been on steroid, antibiotics and ointments and nothing seems to help:( has anyone else experienced anything like this after surgery? Could it be my ovaries not working correctly? Or stress? Please help!

Its still pretty red but I got an ointment prescribed by my doc and I think it’s helping:) I been taking it easy but it’s so hard having 3 boys and oldest has special needs. Just when I think I’m all better and start doing things around the house, I end up hurting at night. It’s frustrating because I’m so used to being active, I never really have time to just relax but I don’t mind it, I like staying busy...the itching all over is getting better everyday I really think it was the stress my body went through with the surgery and my ovaries are probably trying to adjust to not having a uterus and tubes for neighbors 😣and the fact that my husband went back to work helps too😉

Glad it seems like its improving. I know its hard but you really need to rest as much as possible at least for the first 6 weeks. It helps your body to heal and will minimise the chance of any long term issues. I too am used to running round like a headless chicken so was a shock to do nothing. Get your boys to help as much as u can. x

I’ll start right......👇🏼now! 😁 Netflix time! My belly is starting to bother me from doing laundry all morning so yes I’m going to rest the rest of the day! Thanks for the support

Oh no you really shouldnt be doing that. There is a lot of healing going on inside and if you lifting anything of weight more than a kettle you could damage your stitches or cause a prolapse 😳 you def dont want that. please do as youre told mrs ☝️

Hi Jan83

I had same on my arm near the armpit but it wasn't as much as yours. For starters, why are you stressing your tummy in that swim -wear-like material than burns, and is tight??? Do you really need to cover yourself tight with all these constipation, bloating and complications? Set the body free pls. Use a wrap round.

Am post op 8 weeks and at 46 years, TAH-BSO and when I even put on a bra, I feel puffed up, so uncomfortable. All my panties are kept safe till when am comfortable with my tummy.

Secondly when I inquired of my surgeon/ Gyn about those skin issues, he said it was a reaction to the anaesthesia used on me coz I was put under full anaesthesia during surgery and not half. Give it time to clear. Once the anaesthesia clears from your system, it will be ok. And for you, it will take time coz the reaction is heavy.

Kindly go slow on yourself. Go for free flowing light cotton dresses. Or use a light wrap round. In my country we call them"Dera" for the dress and "Leso / kanga" for the wrap round.

I hope I was of some help.
