This was what we had last night for dinner. It's a Shepard's Pie made with Plant-based meat, peas, mashed potatoes and barbeque sauce. For dessert, we had cherry pie filling added to a triangle-shaped cookie. The entire meal was very delicious and had 67 total carbs..

Mmmm! This looks very good Activity2004. Where I live we buy Beyond Meat products. The burgers are delicious. Are you vegetarian? We eat mostly a plant based diet but I do like to cook a turkey breast every now and then.
We sometimes get Beyond Meat and other plant-based ‘meats’ brands. I’m not completely Vegetarian/Vegan, but I have Vegan/Vegetarian for meals a few days a week.
Thank you for saying this about the Shepherd’s Pie.😀👍
You are welcome! It looks awesome and now I am craving it. 😉
I try vegetarian sausages and plant based options. But I’m usually back to meat products. Son nonverbal loves chicken and so do I. I usually go for egg though. Brilliant option !!! Well done !!!
I will always choose the egg over the chicken, too. A soft boiled egg on buttered whole grain toast with salt and pepper for a garnish is my go to. It is my favorite lite dinner option.
This looks very good, hope you enjoyed it
The recipie for a traditional shepherd's pie is naturally gluten free, it's only your additions which risk introducing gluten, they are also likely to increase refined carbs,
You'd be surprised at the opportunities for gluten to sneak into these things though, from the stock, the gravy, and some places even add breadcrumbs! I actually don't know the last time I managed to have shepherd's/cottage pie I hadn't made myself. It's a gluten minefield out there.
I have never tried plant based meat before. Does it have any flavour? I suppose what I’m asking is do you add any herbs and/or spices to your shepherds pie? Can tofu be added? Sorry about all the questions but I’m a bit intrigued, hope that’s ok with you.
Of course, you can always ask questions! I’m definitely okay with that.😀👍
The plant-based meat tasted like real meat, but it is made with peas( depending on the brand you are using). If you want to use it for burgers, get your favorite toppings and/or a bun. Chili needs its sauce to mix with the meat. Shepherd’s Pie can have barbecue sauce, peas/carrots, mashed potatoes instead of a crust, etc.. 😀👍
That looks really good 😋
