Here's what I made for dinner tonight its a green lentil stew with broccoli cauliflower carrots peas and potatoes chopped in their skins, I added low salt bouillon yeast extract chilli sauce with just enough water to cover in my slow cooker.
The dumplings are really easy to make; 165g self raising gluten free flour 2 eggs a little salt enough water to mix into a dough with a teaspoon of fresh parsley and then rolled into 6 dumplings and put on top of the veg and left to cook merrily away.
Its stew and dumpling weather here thats for sure so keep warm and enjoy the rest of your day now folks.
Thanks CBDB going gluten free hit me hard I imagine it does to all of us. And Iโve just googled a krodel is a boiled dumpling. ๐
I buy green lentils in my whole food shop and buy tinned green and black ones sometimes. Iโve seen your bread so know you will make really nice dumplings. ๐
I love lentils! So rich in iron. Just the meal on a cold, rainy evening. I notice you didnโt use vegetable suet in your dumplings and wondered if it contains gluten? I use veg suet in dumplings and cobblers but had never considered if itโs gluten free or not๐
Iโve had a check and the vegetable suet is gluten free๐This time of year, I make lots of soups and vegetable casseroles with dumplings and youโve inspired me to make one today!
That would seem to depend on the brand. I was curious what vegetable suet was, and the first one I looked at, Atora chosen at random, contained wheat flour.
Yes, the one I use, Suma, uses rice flour so is quite gluten free. Iโd just not noticed because I donโt have probs with gluten but thought it might be useful to know for those who do๐
A hearty stew, as the fall continues to grace us with its presence, is a comforting warmth. Yours looks lovely and filled with folate from the lentils.
