This is what I made with the gooseberries that I picked yesterday. I made a simple crumble mix with half flour to fat and half sugar to fat but using ground almonds flaked almonds with plain gluten free flour. I used Pure vegan spread and brown sugar.
I washed and trimmed the gooseberries then added a little sugar chia seeds as these thicken the juice and gives the fruit a thicker texture.
I put about 1/3 of the crumble mix in the pyrex dish and blind baked for about 10 mins then I added the gooseberries the remaining crumble mix with more flaked almonds on top.
I just so happen to have some vegan ice cream so it might end up being a little more indulgent than it appears...
Wow, that crumble is great - I was just admiring your gooseberry post - a great crop, and put to excellent use. Lovely combination with your vegan ice cream. Yum!
I'm not familiar with gooseberries but I'm sure your crumble tastes wonderful and it certainly came out looking nice. Having it with vanilla would definitely add a higher level of deliciousness

Thanks Mandy 😊
Ow wow, those gooseberries were sacrificed to the best of ends Jerry. That looks fabulous and I bet it tasted wonderful too. Really it would just not be making the best of an amazing crumble not to have some ice-cream, custard or cream with it! It's de rigueur! 😃

Good morning sue I have to have custard of medium texture with crumble not to thick or thin lol, and a fair bit can't have ice cream.as of my nuralgia hot cold problem,I noticed you say the gooseberries were sacrificed 🤔actually I was discussing with rachiminof about not feeling I could eat edible flowers and raised my thoughts on how I can happily eat fruit n veg as there all livings things and I have noticed in past on cabbages the leafes look like they have veins running through as I was a vegetarian for most of my life even when a child, I still sometimes have a slight horror on occasions when eating chicken and mams meat pie 🤔I guess it's what were programmed to and just to me would seem arful to pick a beautiful flower and eat it,I saw TV programme about insects farming and they predict as food shortages in future with global warming etc we will be eating insects, well nothank you when that time comes I shall resort to the flowers lol, I'm interested in why some flowers are edible and which ones aren't what are your thoughts on flower eating and I'm.sure you'll understand how I feel 🤗😻💐
Hey thanks for that Hidden 👍😊
Hey thanks Sue and ice cream with cream will be even better. 😁
