I’d love to hear about your favorites. I really like that so many of them have different colors, flavors, even pleasant scents.
What are your favorite fruits and vegetables? - Healthy Eating
What are your favorite fruits and vegetables?
Butternut squash, parsnips, peas of any kind, sweet potatoes, lentils, bananas, nectarines, cherries, strawberries, apples, pears, Swedes, turnips and red and green cabbage are my favourites.
Pink lady apples are sweet and delicious…. You can buy them in most Uk supermarkets.
I buy them sliced and sealed in a celefane bag, just the right amount to have with a main meal salad!
Fresh peas straight from the pod, corn on the cob and mangetout are my all time favourites and in fruit, pears and strawberries😋
Ok, B, what are mangetout?😉
Peas but smaller or is it petit poi's? Anyway I know it's French! Google again? 😂
Thank you B. No googling yet, but I’ll keep that thought 💭.😊
I’ve just this moment ordered some mangetout (eat all). They’re pea pods with small peas inside, you eat the pods as well as the peas, they’re very sweet and tender. I like them raw in salads. 🙂👍
Sounds healthy to me, Rach. Especially good for you when eaten raw. I’m wondering if we have those in the States? 🧐
Yes Isinatra, nice and healthy and add extra crunch to a salad. I was going to order peas in their pods but it seems a shame to throw the pods away as I would imagine there are nutrients in them too. 🙂
Especially the pods. As potato skins are the most nutritious part of the potato 🥔😋
Most fruit and veg to be honest with a few exceptions.
Best blackberries I’ve ever had. Practically none of those stick between your teeth seeds. Juicy and so sweet.
I’ve posed this question before on HU, but I guess no one took me seriously. I do love a good ripe juicy peach, but most are rock hard from the store and mine never get to the good ripe stage. Any hints? I’ve tried everything except putting them back out in the sun. 😎
I've heard that if you put them in a brown paper bag and put them in a dark place they ripen within a couple of days 👌
I haven’t tried that . It makes sense. A friend smuggled 🥷some nectarines from California in her car ride back to Louisiana in a brown paper bag. Never have I had a better one since. I didn’t think I could replicate the conditions of the car ride, but it’s worth a shot since peaches are abundant now. Thanks for the tip B. ❤️
It's worth a try me old luv🤞
Is fruit not allowed to go from state to state then?
As I was told by my friend who confiscated the fruit, California has laws against exporting fruit that hasn’t gone through normal processes in example of packaging, sanitizing, etc. Same for importing fruits and vegetables and I’m not real sure about this one, pets and animals. As a matter of fact, I’m going to contact a person who lives in California and is familiar with their environmental issues. The laws are just meant to keep California safe from contamination of their agriculture. Not aware of any other state that does that. Although when I lived in New York as a child, we had to put our pet dog in quarantine for a month before we could move to Florida. Will get back to you.❤️
Seems like each state has its own laws. As long as the fruit/vegetables are in proper packaging, it won’t be confiscated. The laws are most prevelant in the states who rely on citrus production. Florida, California, Alabama, etc, even Louisiana. Each state has its own laws re pets. Mostly, it’s ok to transport pets. I have no clue about what happened re my pet. Maybe parent subterfuge? 😉
Mangoes. I love a good Bowen mango.. It's been more than 18 months since I indulged. Maybe this Christmas I'll treat myself.
