My name is Ty btw, I am also new to the group. I Grew up very poor and my health and finances were always a huge concern for me. I was always the fat chubby kid with high blood pressure. Over the last 4 years I decided to commit to a journey of life change. I have turned my weight, blood pressure and health around, and it feels like my journey has just begun! For me, the keys to losing weight and getting fit are simple:

1. Drink A Least a Gallon Of Water a Day

2. Eat Mostly G.B.O.M.B.S (Green, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries, Seed + Nuts & Spices)

3. Limit Oils, Dressings, Animal Products, Fried, Processed and packaged Products & Restaurant Food And Basically anything in the middle aisle of the grocery stores lol (Seriously tho) If it is boxed, it is dead (Grain, canned veggies etc are ok). This is where all the Fat, Salt, & Sugar is lurking and ready to get into your body lol and this is where weight loss is won and lost (in the kitchen and in the grocery store lol)

4. Cardio & Strength Training (No Gym Required) 5 Times a Week For Muscle Retention

5. Meditation & Stress Management: There are so many things that we have to deal with as people, and stress management is key to making every thing work

5. You will feel alive and never have so much as a headache lol

I am not a huge fan in calorie counting because for me, and over the long term, it is not sustainable and there are more important things to worry about that worrying about counting calories. Although i do recommend counting calories for beginners because it helps you become aware of your eating & drinking habits. Knowing this information allows you to make adjustments to your eating habits over time. But Once you begin to understand yourself and your habits, you can then ween yourself off of the calorie counting because you are no longer primarily eating those foods (or food like substances) that encourage weight gain when overeaten!

Thank you for having me, ill be sure to add value where i can!

Hey tysmith

Great inspirational post.

Love it...

I have been on diets all my life

And due to digestive issues decided to totally change my life..

like u i stopped eating anything that was processed. No red meats, started to eat lot and lots of colourful fruit and veg , turkey and chicken, NO GLUTEN was a biggy for me as i am intolerant... then i started walking and walking and walking.

It amazing that my health totally changed, i feel so much better, my digestive issues went and i lost 2 stone!

It can b done and u dont have to kill yourself with exercise to do it. Mainly it down to abit of both and listening to ur body.

Well done you xx

Great advice on the eating front.....thank you

Pray tell how did you manage fitness withou5 a gym?

I refuse to step foot in a gym๐Ÿ˜‚.

I walk miles... il just put my ipod on with either music or a audio book and walk. Try to do about 13,000 steps a day.

I also do yoga at home. Just go on youtube and watch and do it and now after two years im pretty good. It really strengthens ur body without hammering it and injuring it...

Plus the healthy eating the weight just fell off.

I also keep a healthy gut, sounds weird but i take probiotics and digestives enzymes and peppermint oil just to keep the gut bacteria happy as having a sloppy slow digestive sysytem can make it hard to lose weight and also make u crave bad food

Will try the probiotics

It really works.

I had really bad ibs and had a really slow digestive system.

Now i gave up all the stodgy food, red meat, processed food and got the gut healthy it all sped up.

So its like my metabolism has sped up.

Once u start walking aswell that helps .. my friend who is a personal trainer says walking is by far the best exercise if u have the time.. as obv a short burst of high intense training takes 25-30 mins whereas i will walk for hours but in week i walk all day at work anyway. It only weekends i have to make a effort to actually walk
