Here is a link to the NHS BMI calculator

nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...

If you put your information in there it will tell you how many calories you need to eat per day for safe weight loss (assuming you are trying to lose weight - it won’t give you a guide if you are already in the healthy weight range)

Calories per meal doesn’t matter much, it’s personal choice and the overall daily or weekly amount that matters and it’s an estimate anyway. You’d need to try a target for a few weeks then reassess to see if you need to adjust.

Best wishes 😀

Thank you for your reply. I am aloud 1200 per day so I should divide that between 3 meals and snacks is that correct .

1200 is very low, are you very short and sedentary? Was that what the nhs BMI calculator gave you? And yes if that is your daily allowance divide it between your meals but you can divide it however you like, there is no rule about 3 meals or snacks.

I’m only 4 ft 10 and lost weight eating around 1500 calories a day. At the time I was more active than I am now, daily dog walks, Pilates class once a week and aqua fit classes twice per week. Where did you get the 1200 from? And what rate weight loss did you choose? My experience as a short person was to choose a slow rate of loss so you can eat more and try to cram as many good nutrients in as possible. I found 1500 calories of lowish carb foods fairly easy to stick to. My problem now is not exercising as much, I’m finding it hard missing the social element of the classes (still walk the dog of course!)
