Part 16. The positive benefits of creativity; my day at the workbench: Electroplating a silver Cylinder Seal natural Amazonite necklace

Certain colours of stones being either 'cold' or 'warm' can take on a totally different appearance when combined with a different colour metal. Gold would be lovely indeed, but electroplating with a 22k gold solution works just as well!

This is a beautiful string of faceted natural Amazonite. It is a beauty stone that has so many different colours in it, from Duck Egg blue, to pale caramel and even dark Tudor oak colour brown. This string could do both; either silver or silver gilt!

Thank-you for all your lovely comments. I'm so glad you've enjoyed the process of creating the cylinder. It's hard work and at times I feet like flagging, especially with all the curry stresses we are all enduring; but sharing my efforts has helped me complete my work and makes it all feel worthwhile.

Thank-you all again,

Best Wishes to all & stay safe and KBO, as Churchill said "keep buggering on"

Thank-you Jerry, it's very cheering that you've enjoyed watching the lengthy process! I'm sorry I posted it in the wrong section, does that mean that it will not be seen by the folk in the Wellbeing section?

Would you like to cut and paste the link for the posting(s) or do a new posting for PWB? Either choice is fine. You can also add the Arts and Crafts Topic for the postings on here. :-)

Thank-you, but now thinking about it I had actually originally intended it primarily as an example of creativity as a tool to aid the positive well being of the psyche; rather than an art or craft?πŸ€”

It can be for both. πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

That's beautiful. I love amazonite. I just treated myself to some labradorite earrings.

Thank you 😊Oh golly, now you've got me going!!! I totally agree, I absolutely ADORE Labradorite. It's an amazing stone. It really brings out the magpie in me! The earrings must be lovely. Any movement we make shows off the 'fire' in the Labradorite as you move. I love this flashes of lime/yellow you get as well as the amazing piercing blues! A visual delight!

Enjoy, wear your earrings, treat yourself and look beautiful, all tools of positivity to get us through this horrible situation we all find ourselves in.

Some years back I went to an international gem trade show and bought the most beautiful string of faceted 8mm round stones Labradorites, 'full of fire'. I fell in love with them. When I got home I was so excited I worked overnight and made up all the good work that went into the design... And, as had been my plan went back the following day to visit the rest of the show... And of course back to the same German gem dealer for more.... I showed him my necklace! He was astounded, went behind a curtain and pulled out some chilled champagne and called the rest of his clients to gather round! I think that when I read a few years back that the oldest piece of 'known Jewellery' dates to around 35,000 years ago (a little sea shell deliberately drilled the be worn upon a thing), I could understand the fascination instantly!! It's the inner magpie in us all, that seeks out something beautiful to treasure. ....

I think I'd better go and out my gorgeous Labradorite necklace on now!!!

Thank-you!!

It's an amazing stone. Sometimes just the Duck Egg blue colour is selected, but here the full spectrum of the stone is included. I particularly like the caramel colour next UK the Duck Egg blue...Then Peruvian Amazonite TJ my mind is even nicer than Turquoise!

I shall find some of my stones and send you a picture do you can see! It's gorgeous!
