Help!

ChriatieBoombatty profile image

I am the heaviest I've ever been and I'm really feeling it and seeing it in the mirror. I recently broke up with my children's father of 12 years and I've never felt so low. Is there anyone in a similar position who has low motivation and low self esteem?

Thank you Granni B 😊

Hello ChriatieBoombatty firstly welcome to the community. I think how you feel is very understandable as you have a lot of negative action and need to realise that you are not alone, separating from a partner is emotionally draining and it’s easy to comfort eat.I’d try to change your relationship with food as comfort eating makes people unhappy and overweight.

We need exercise to help burn off calories so I’d see your situation as long term and take things one day and one meal at a time coupled with exercise and the pounds will gradually slip away and your self confidence will blossom.

If you want further support there’s others who have split from their partners on the Positive well being community please see:

You’re in great company on here for all things healthy eating coupled with exercise for a healthy wellbeing.

It’s very important that you know that you are not alone in your circumstances.

Jerry. 🌈😊

Thank you Jerry I will definitely join this group and my lack of exercise is awful. I really find it hard to incorporate. I have a mostly sedentary job and life for that matter. I really need to do something but I am disinterested in most sports buy I could do dancing, walking and water aerobics when the pools open properly again. 😊

Hello Chriatie, it is brave and motivated of you to make the decision to leave the father of your children after twelve years and also to be honest about your feelings of low self esteem and motivation. At the end of a long relationship, at this time of year and especially at the end of this particular year, there probably wouldn't be many people who could honestly say they were faring as well as they'd like to. We are just around the corner from "new beginnings" with a new year, a vaccine for this virus and we'll soon be past the shortest day with Spring only ten weeks away. Be kind to yourself, take one step at a time and if necessary seek professional help to talk about how you are feeling.

Thank you Salab and you are so right. I need to hold onto this kind of thinking myself as hard to see the positives at the moment. 😊

Good morning Chriatie, you are certainly not alone. It would be perfectly normal to feel low after a relationship breakdown. There are plenty of great books available for low self esteem. I would say please try not to give your self a hard time over your weight or feel bad, stress can make us reach for sweet or fatty food. You will get the weight off and feel better about yourself but for now maybe best to be kind to yourself and give yourself time to heal.

We are all hear for you

Best wishes

Debs

Hi there,

Yes, I'm in much the same place, putting on the pounds, But I think a lot of it is down to the Covid19, and not being able to get out for as much exercise as usual. plus the Christmas season is upon us with the over indulging of the season.

After the New Year, I'm going on a diet!

Cheers, Midori
