I'm New, Coronavirus will not stop me from healthy eating and gentle exercising as I will maintain my weight.

Even though we are going through the Coronavirus I will not let it deter me from my healthy eating and keeping my weight off. I got off my full weight in the house by healthy eating and exercising in the house, so this is nothing new to me.

Hi Lotus-Blossom ,

Congratulations on maintaining your weight and exercise routine while being at home. How's it going? Stay safe and keep in touch. :-)

It is going well. Determined to keep my weight off and to keep up with my healthy eating as I'm creative with my food. I view healthy eating as fun and a way of every day life. I have Subserosal Fibroids in me plus even more. So it is important for me to keep it off as fat can feed the cells and the cells can encourage my fibroids to grow so for me this is enough incentive to keep it off.

Plus I'm very passionate about healthy eating that I've even creative my own calorie book of day to day foods I eat.

This is a great idea to write down everything you eat/drink. I carb. count for keeping the blood sugars even during the day and evening hours so I don’t have any low blood sugars. I’m a type 1 Diabetic.

You’re welcome! Do you want me to help you with carb. counting?

Lotus-Blossom in reply toActivity2004

Thanks for offering, but I don't count carbs as the human body requires a bit of everything. But thanks, though.

Hi , this is the best way to fight the CLL sports . Healthy vegetables , fruits , beans, and peace of mind. Laugh as much as we can to boost the immune system .

I really agree with you.

I am making the most of my exercise ration daily myself and doing indoor exercise when I can and I have increased my intake of beans and lentils as well.

Lotus-Blossom profile image
Lotus-Blossom in reply to

Good on you. You are best to ration anyway it's up to you but I recommend sticking to the reference intake of food because you have to look after your own health, which is why I recommend reference food intake. You will be surprised how long food can last plus you are making a great saving of money.

For instance, I stick to the reference intake of food anyway long before this coronavirus so I am not going to find rationing hard.

This sounds really good. Indoor exercises are great for rainy days, too. What exercise routine do you do at home?😀👍

Before I had my surgery I mixed it up. One day I did my stepping then the next day I did my streching on the strecher then the following day I did my own free lance dancing in the livingroom to music.

Because of my surgery and severe blood loss as I almost died (I'm still recovering) so I can only do my stepping and abdomen exercises and 30 minutes of walking a day at the moment as I'm trying to get any strength back. So it will take a long time for me to get back to the way I once was. But I'm gradually getting there. I'm just thankful I'm still alive.

Walking is a great way to get exercise— even in the house.😀👍

Dancing to the radio and fitness videos.

That’s fantastic! I sometimes do dancing to music, too. I was supposed to go to a dance tomorrow, but we can’t have it because of the virus, unfortunately.

Thanks, I do my abdomen exercise for 20 minutes in the morning, lunchtime, evening which adds up to an hour a day. I do my stepping in the morning, lunchtime and evening. I do my 30 min of walking anytime in the day.

This sounds really good! Do you have a way to track your walking/stepping while you’re exercising?😀👍

Lotus-Blossom profile image
Lotus-Blossom in reply toActivity2004

Thanks, I just tick them off in my diary as I go which is easier for me as I'm still recovering from abdomen surgery.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply toLotus-Blossom

That’s a good idea to keep track. How do you feel today?

Lotus-Blossom profile image
Lotus-Blossom in reply toActivity2004

I feel okay. I feel doing my exercising is giving me a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. It is important I keep it up and stay healthy as I am waiting for a hospital appointment as I need all the strength I need to get through it.

How are you?

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply toLotus-Blossom

I’m okay. I go up and down the steps at home for some of my exercise since I can’t go out until further notice.

I read and try to get some other things done during the week.😀👍

Yes, exercise at home is great! Keep it up!😀👍

Hi lotus-Blossom, I’ve just read your exercise routine and it sounds just what I’m needing to do myself! But can’t seem to work out what exercises to do, I need abdomen exercises and steps! My consultant said exercise is a must for me! I don’t know why I’m telling you it just sounded brill what you are doing, I’ll get there I suppose but just keep putting more and more exercise apps on my phone and trying them, but they don’t seem right 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lotus-Blossom profile image
Lotus-Blossom in reply toSqwarks

Thanks. You are on the right path though you have to find an activity that is best suited to you any activity is better than no activity.

You have a good positive attitude, you will get there. First thing first stop viewing it as exercise look at it like what activity can I do that I know I will enjoy? The minute you start to view as exercise you will then view it as work and then you will stop doing it.

You don't need steps if you live in a house use your stairs instead. I got my abdomen exercises from my gynaecologist. They must show other abdomen exercises on youtube.

This attitude was how I lost 90 pounds. You have to change your way of thinking if you wish to keep it up. Plus you will feel the benefits afterwards.

Thanks for contacting me, it has been nice chatting to you.

Sorry for the delayed text,I appreciated your reply and it made sense,I was finding exercise a chore and very irritating especially as I couldn’t do most of them”unfit” so thought about what I could do and having two dogs I made that into an exercise not just” ahh got to walk the dogs! So found a very long road that I walk, turn round walk back, that’s 45mins drop off the older dog and get active with the other one ish. 😅 go to the hills walking up them quite fast, it’s working as my thighs are hurting.and need to gain muscle not quite abdominal but get out of breath! and has had a positive impact in my mind and made me want to do other exercises, feel like I’ve blown away the cobwebs, so thank you very much for taking the time to reply 🏃🏻‍♀️

Don't apologise for the delayed text. I'm not always on the computer as I have a life but I'm glad you liked my reply.

I like your positive attitude (keep it up) walking your dogs is also very important for them, they will be happier dogs for it. Above all you are bonding with them as you see the smile on there little faces as you are interacting with them. So remember that as you are walking them as that should also give you inspiration to keep it up. Plus you will feel really good afterwards for it as well. Remember not to hurt your self by exercising to much as that could stop you from exercising the next day. Exercise of course but know your limits.

Remember this though it begins in the kitchen. Personally I recommend following the n.h.s healthy eating plan counting the calories, they have a website. It really works plus you don't feel deprived as it all comes down to moderation. As long as you enjoy your fruit and veg you will go very far as it will work. I recommend doing the B.M.I calculator on there site so you know where to start and see what they say.

They even offer support as well on their site and they are really supportive.

I signed up a couple of years ago, because of it I loss 90 pounds it was a slow weight loss because of my underactive thyroid but I never used that as an excuse as I knew I would get there with determination and perseverance I was not going to let it bully me. I feel really fantastic as my confidence has gone through the roof.

Recently I've signed up to WEIGHT LOSS NHS on health unlocked as well and they have been supportive as well (I am maintaining) so remember this, support is all around you including me, if you want advice.

Hi thank you very much again and I’m glad you are doing so well, it proves it can be done.as for the dogs yes they love it,I will have to keep it up now( but want to) they start getting restless and sitting at the door near walkies time!

Yea I know my limits with walking that’s why it suits me because I’m not very flexible and with the exercises I was doing I couldn’t walk for two days.

I’ve been eating fruit and veg etc and been making some different foods, it’s the chocolate cake that gets me, with cream Mmmm but doing well,

I was only going to send you a short note but I do tend to go on, my family call my messages a story book.they get a cup of tea before reading.

I’m glad you have a life, I used to until corona struck, I have a daughter that came home from uni early, one isn’t working until it’s over and one working from home, she’s put herself in a room out the way. I don’t get any peace, chatting arguing moaning, I’m glad to get out with the dogs, I’ll stop ✋ thanks again and a massive well done oh and it’s really nice that you have gained confidence nothing can beat that 😊
