Twelve years ago and barely able to walk, due to a painful back, my doctor shocked and hurt me when she said I was obese. I went home, cried and then decided to something about it! I joined Slimming World, lost over 4 stones and I have kept it off, still stay within my target range and I have no back pain. I still go to group meetings where I am a social team member. I swim almost every morning, walk or have about half an hour in the gym and eat very healthy meals.

Well done kitchengardener2 I admire what you've achieved and 12 years later you're still trim, so thats a great achievement and it will encouarge others so thanks for sharing. As it must be wonderful to feel younger than you did 12 years ago...well worth maknig an effort.

Hi Hidden 10lbs isnt too bad so it's keeping an eye on our weight to keep it in check. Sometimes I think that it's a natural reaction as you were too uncomfortable to eat when the fybro kicked in and now you're enjoying your food so you're a victim of your own success.

I think that your experiments with coconut butter and cocoa and testing it thoroughly might be playing a part in this...😀

Hi Hidden

Thanks for highlighting that it's World Obesity Day - and for sharing the information about that. Inspiring to read the replies here and see people's experiences.

I used to be obese about 6 years ago, and felt very unhealthy at that weight. I am thankful that I've lost about 5 stone in weight, and that I've maintained a healthy BMI for the past 6 years - I am keen to continue maintaining that - and I enjoy my food and exercise, and feel I am enjoying good health and well-being as a result of the changes that I've made.

I am grateful to the Health Unlocked forums for helping me keep on track with things, and I love the support within the communities.

Zest :-)

Hi Zest hey 5 stone is no mean feat so very well done you and thanks for sharing your story as I know how healthily you eat and keep fit, so I'm impressed.

I really like the HU forums to and know that your contribution is greatly appreciated by all of us.

At 10lbs weight gain that makes sense and smaller portions is a good option, going gluten free is harder than most people realise as wheat and gluten is used in many processed foods and if gluten is affecting you you have to remove all of it. A FODMAP diet works wonders for many with IBS and many coeliac choose that.

So let us know how you get on.
