Have tried dairy free for some time now. I have COPD and think the dairy free diet has reduced the mucus in my lungs. I use Rice milk with added calcium and find it very palatable. May not work for everyone but it is worth a try.
Dairy Free: Have tried dairy free for some... - Healthy Eating
Dairy Free
Thank you for this info. This is the first one I saw on this Healthy Eating section of this cite. I don't have COPD but I do know dairy had a huge effect on mucous developing in my lungs during ESRD and on dialysis as fluid builds up in lungs. I since had my transplant but ty for this post. Plus I am excited to see this Healthy Eating section! I was given 5 to 10 yrs before dialysis and I made it to 10 yrs thanks to NKF who I contacted when I first found out I had CKD and I followed their information which led me to discovering a Renal Nutritionist. Diet and Exercise is key. Diet though is number one to all diseases in my opinion. NKF taught me how to eat and is why I am alive today!
Hi M67W77 I'm glad that rice milk works for you as many people get mucus because of dairy. So a good tip. 😊
Glad to know others are dairy free. One thing I have found tasty is a ham sandwich spread with cranberry jelly instead of butter
I love cashew milk if I want something super creamy but it’s a really high fat content. And hemp milk is fantastic! It’s definitely my favorite right now and they added extra protein is great for my diet.
I will have to look for rice milk when I'm next getting food shopping.
I tend to use almond milk (though not often, as I'm conscious it comes from drought regions). I also like Rude Health coconut milk, which is a mix of coconut and rice milks, if you want something slightly different.
