As you may have seen in a previous post of mine, I was saying that earlier in the year I sowed onion, spinach, kale, 2 pumpkin and 2 sunflower seeds and got more than I bargained for.
The seeds didn’t grow at all. Well, 1 of the sunflower seeds have but I have 4 or 5 others nearby that I didn’t plant!
Anyhow, this is a photo of the one I’m sure I did plant.
Why did I get more than I bargained for? Well I think it has something to do with the compost in the soil.
We don’t have a bed full of soil only. We fill the bed with leaves and branches first (carbon and nitrogen). Top that with a layer of fruit and veg peelings then top that with homemade compost.
