I'm bipolar and on heavy medication and find it hard to loose weight. This is not an excuse but the truth. I've only been able to loose half a stone. I've been training really hard in the gym and watching what I eat and can't seem loose anymore weight. Very frustrating. I'm on these meds for life and can't reduce it as I need them to survive.

For your weight/medication issue, have you gotten in touch with your doctor and told them? Did they say anything about weight gain as being a side effect of the medication? How much/many are you supposed to take during the day?
The doctors are aware but they leave everything up to you and don't help. Don't think they care to be completely honest. Just gonna have to accept that I'm obese. I'm still continuing to eat healthy and exercise for health reasons. It's just I hate the way I look and people always comment on my weight gain in an unpleasant way.
Have you talked with your doctor about possibly going on a low carb high protein diet? It helps with weight loss and blood sugar control. I have type 1 Diabetes and it’s helped my blood sugar keep even through the day and evening hours. My weight has gone down, too.😀👍
I understand where you’re coming from. I was diagnosed with PMR in November and was on 15 mg Prednisilone and now on 12.5mg. I also have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis and a spinal injury, and, although I walk for 30 minutes 5 days per week, and go to the gym once per week, all of which I don’t really enjoy because of pain and exhaustion, and eating healthy, I cannot lose any weight !!! It’s so frustrating, isn’t it? Sadly, I don’t have any answers.🤨
Ketogenic diet is the answer to your problem. Please learn about this dietary approach and consider to follow. Look at the website dietdoctor.com for introduction to LCHF/KETO. Also, follow the link below for some useful information:
You really can't say 'such and so is the answer to your problem' (well you can because you did but it's a bad thing to say). There are in fact psychiatric medications especially ones for psychosis problems and bipolar problems that make it IMPOSSIBLE to lose weight irrespective of what someone does.
This is an actual fact.
Most of the time the mechanism is not known like with the medication that I take for my bipolar.

Hi Pj44, would you be open to considering a different way of eating healthily? For years I thought calorie counting and low fat food were the way to keep weight down but in fact I was just piling on fat and getting miserable. since taking other’s advice here to try Low Carb High Fat, it took a while to get my head around it being possible, but it’s certainly made a huge difference to me and I wouldn’t go back. Good luck
It could be your medication that's making you gain weight? My doctor took me off one of my Medications because of this. Ask your doctor it there is another kind?
Thanks everyone. I can't change my medication or dosage as that's the two that work best for me and after relapsing mid May this year have to be careful. Thanks for the diet advice, will try that, especially the honey and cinamon one
I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with which I can identify and to which I can relate.
I have bipolar 4 and I have struggled with losing weight because of the medication I take.
I cannot stop taking this medication because I've tried every other one and this is the only one that works and it works extremely well.
One thing I recently discovered and it does seem to help is making a Holistic Health Tonic.
All the ingredients need to be organic because if they have glyphosate or any other conventional pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides it won't work because those are poisonous.
In addition to being organic all the ingredients need to be raw, unprocessed, and unfiltered.
The ingredients are apple cider vinegar, Ceylon cinnamon, honey, and lemon juice put into clean water. (Preferably water that does not come from something plastic).
If the jar does not say Ceylon cinnamon it is Saigon cinnamon and that doesn't work.
The ratio that I found works for me but of course it's a personal thing is three cups apple cider vinegar, one cup lemon juice, 1 tbsp Ceylon cinnamon, and 1/4 to 1/2 a cup honey put into a glass jar.
I shake that up until it's as mixed as it can be and keep it in the refrigerator.
I put one quarter of a measuring cup of that into a 16 to 20 oz tumbler and then fill it the rest of the way with clean water.
I have released approximately 42 LB in approximately 11 months.
I'm not guaranteeing this will work for you but I read about it a few different places online and a large number of people have benefited.
